I personally don't think the sandwich method makes them too bulky.  That's the type of install I do on clients and I'm wearing a set myself right now.

Even with the brush on glue, with only the single layer of tape you will probably only get a max of 4 weeks of wear.

thanks so much for your reply. she gave me the ultratress glue and told me to touch up wherever they lifted and im doing that. i love them so much. they look great and she said the sandwich method makes it bulky. do you fin that also. these lay very flat. i think if i had her put glue on the edges when applying theyd hold better. what do you think??

It's not that the extensions were not done 'right', it's just a technique that's not very good.  There are some companies like New Concepts or Tressallure that teach the 'tape only' method of applying skin wefts.   A single layer of tape on the scalp just doesn't provide enough hold.  This stylist probably only learned that one way of applying it.

Gemtress does have a DVD that instructs to 'sandwich' the extensions with the tape and also some brush on adhesive.  That's a much better method, although I found their brush on adhesive to be very messy.

I found that works the best is to use the sandwich method with a hairpiece such as Vapon No Tape or Max Grafting adhesive.  With these adhesives you can easily get 6-8 weeks of wear.
