I don't mind sharing.....I have yet to do my own hair for starters. I had clip-ins and recently went to pinchbraids. I had bonds a few years ago but found that they didn't work for me. I am loving the braids but used some old straight hair for the trial and now am so over fighting the lack of curl that I ordered some french refined to replace the current extensions. I am not sure yet if I will stay with the braids. It is costly and all of the ladies here have me so motivated to try and DIY. I also ordered protac and LG to have for any "spur of the moment" decision.
I am 40 and my kids range in age from 8 to 18. Was weird sending one off to college this year (feels like I was just in school). They are good kids and most of the time, my hair is in a ponytail, so no conflict with the daily routine. No point in doing my hair for the horses and cows.
Fitting in time on the treadmill is my biggest challange.
That french refined is something that would suit me too. Now that I see the pics I fear it no longer! Thanks for that!
My last DIY install (actually my first) is body wave and I usually make 4 braids before I go to sleep and I put the leave in moisturiser of Catwalk in. My hair stays wavy and soooooft! Next time I will put in more hair though, because it settles and becomes a little too natural looking for me Sixlabors: 6 kids!??! OMG! I have one and I'm already constantly tired!!!
How old are you and your kids? I don't mean to be impolite, so don't answer if you don't want to... .
I was 41 when I got my son. He's two now. And he keeps me on my toes! How do you manage AND do your hair?!?
I learn to love and try to understand everyone I meet. I see the rainbow hiding in their eyes.

Awwww...wow! 6 kids? You have the RIGHT to be imperfect! lol... I appreciate the compliments...but believe me, I go through my phases with my figure. It is hard to stay lean year round. So right now I am in the holiday "indulge" phase... So that means probably an extra 10 lbs or so in the next few months I will have to work off! LOL..
oh, now your nick makes sense: SixLabors=Six Kids!!! i gotta hand it to you being able to put up with that many kids!! please post pics when you get your hair in!

Ordered 2 packs today....very excited to receive them.
By the way msfitns, I had to shew my boys away from the computer each time I wanted to check the curl of your FR. After giving birth to six kids, I'm SOOOOOOO jealous of your figure (and the hair).

Wow...my little pin head only accomodates a pack and a half ( maybe a ittle less!) of hair. The FR is really compact in density. You don't need alot unless you want it really long and mega thick, of course.

2 packages is PLENTY...some people barely use a full package of this texture. Now, Im a big hair fan and I used 2 full packages + a peice of another weft. Its more than enough hair. I could have done with a weft or two less, and still had really big hair! I can only find one type of hair clip to hold this much hair.
Metalgirl, WAY TOO PRETTY!!!!! I LOVE it!!!! Is that the 22"? I don't think I could pull off that kind of length. Do you know if the curl pattern on the 18" is the same or maybe more because of shorter length? Is it better to air dry or diffuse for longer life of hair and bonds? Sorry about all the questions....all new to me. Crawled with clip-ins, learning to walk with current braids, and looking forward to full run with DIY glue-ins....with saved $ in hand. Thanks!!

I love French Refined texture. Over the years, I've noticed that sometimes the curl of and given package is looser or tigher, it varies a little bit. Here's a picture of my current french refined, it's on the looser end of the curl spectrum. I love this hair because I am lazy and I don't have to do anything to it to make it look nice. When I do decided to curl it, it holds a very nice curl.
I agree with everything thats been said about the french refined vs. bodywave. The french refined pictures that Bohyme uses does the hair no justice. It doesnt get wild and frizzy looking unless you brush the hair when dry, then it will get poofy, ( like any curl texture when you brush it.) With product and a little scrunching it looks like a loose perm. When I use product Ive been using Sunsilk Defrizz and I really like it. Most times I curl with the curling iron and I can go a few days between styling (if I need to) sometimes a little touchup, sometimes not. This hair doesnt go flat or limp & curls dont droop.
The bodywave is nice hair too, but if its wave your after the bodywave with drop to nearly straight after washing.
Actually, I was just saying the pic makes it look frizzy and wild! In actuality, I think it's very nice. So far I have washed it afew times and the curl comes out beautiful without anything in it. I am actually surprised, but, like with any curly hair, it will get frizzy and wild if you comb it and break apart the curls.
But I do love the look of the hair, it's really fab for curly hair!
I can't wait to see! It is so fun to diy.

SOLD! I have been hovering around waiting for at least two of you ladies to confirm my instinct. I just needed to hear about the longevity of the curl. Now I can order the FR and stop fighting with my hair everyday. I am so excited about trying my own install also. It will be a few weeks but when I do, you will all be the first to know! Your words of advice to everyone, the lovely photos, and demos have converted me to an addict. Now I will sit back down and quietly go back to reading all of your GREAT posts. Thanks!!
when i wore the french refined i used Garnier soft curl cream (it comes in a short fat little pot) and just dabbed that on it while it was still damp, scrunched and then i was done...it made it look like an old spiral perm and i loved it....body wave looks great when its new, but after one wash you basically have straight hair again and i need the wave in it to match my own hair

Frizzy and wild....that's funny because that is what I have always thought about my natural hair and one of the MANY reasons I'm enjoying extensions. Question again.....if I diffuse the FR, would it curl better? Or even just use a curl cream and air dry for less frizz?

I know, you always just want longer and longer. At first I was okay with 12 and 18 inch, but when I saw all the girl's hair on here that was 20, 22", I fell in love.
I have French Refined right now, it's really beautiful curl pattern. I've spent quite some time today at the store looking for different stuff, and they have a wall full of bohyme, all colors and textures, so I spent time drooling at it!
FR to me, is more scrunched looking, it's really not what I would call curl (like no circular pattern to it.) To me, it's more of what you get with one of those 3 barrel curling irons, but a little looser. Body wave looks a little bit bigger, and more circular in the wave pattern. If you look on the bohyme website, it's pretty accurate pictures, besides the FR, it doesn't look that frizzy and wild!
I don't know if any of that made any sense to anyone but me, it's hard to explain textures, but probably the best way it to guess, and see what works for you and what doesn't.
