I would just like to say that my hair is naturally black as well and I have had a heck of a time getting anything to hold color wise. I agree with the person that said color a few shades lighter first before highlighting. I personally have used Excellence in most auburn shades and the lightest ones are what make a difference although it`s not too dramatic. I have used highlighting kits with redddish tints from the store and this combination has made a nice change that isn`t too obvious.

you might want to think about getting all your hair lightened first. not to any off color, but maybe to a really dark brown. it all depends on if you want to go for a funky look or a natural look. b/c with jet black hair, pretty much any color (even something like a dark brown) will contrast greatly with your hair. and it depends on what kinda highlights you want, if you want streaks, then if you highlighted it, it would be more of a funky look, but if you wanted over all highlights, then i would try and dark brown with a reddish tint, or a cranberry (purplish red) color. that way when light hits your hair, then it gives off the highlights. if you want lighter high lights or streaks, i would suggest dying all of it a little lighter first. like a dark chesnut brown, with light brown streaks or highlights would look nice. whatever you are looking for. i like the streaked look, but i dont know how drastic you want to go. and remember that if you hate it, you will have to dye over it, or have it removed which would damage your hair even more. so honestly i would go to a salon and have a consultation and ask the stylist what colors would work best with your hair color, and skin tone. good luck :)

I am thinking about highlighting my hair but I don`t know if it will look good since I have natural jet black hair.
What color would I ask for if I go to a salon?

Does anyone have any pictures with their black hair hightlighted?

Please give me your opinion.
THANKS!!!
