you are right. i guess i was going on good faith... i mean for a hair cut no deposit is needed but you are right for a full day it is! i dont use a credit card machine, i use the new paypal consule thing- i love it i use my lap top and it is i think 20$ a month- it is great if you dont have it check it out. not all my clients had paypal or are computer savoy so when they put there depsit for hair (and now appts) via phone i need there number, address, and name. i love it!(plus i am an ebay addict so money intop my paypal accout works for me!
hey barbie, if you booked a full day, it's good to have at least 50% non-refundable deposit cause you are reserving the chair.
If you don't have a credit card machine where they can give their cc over the phone, then ask them to pay via paypal. It's easy.
New or old, it is always customary to pay a 50%-100% deposit. Just like airlines collect paid tickets up front, so should you. And they are strict too, if you don't make your flight, or are late, or want to take an early flight, or change your mind, they have the right to charge extra!
i think it is just this tme of year. last week i had 2 seperate clients whom were new to me. they both had there own hair- (one was for tracks the other fusion) both made appt- so i booked up a full day for each of them-(they were both new and didn't want a consult just to come in the day of and have them put in...) BOTH DID NOT SHOW CALL OR RETURN MY CALL! i was so upset because i had people who wanted those days and i said i was booked. i am thinking of taking deposits on all appts made for extentions-(i usually only do this if they are buying hair through me)- but now with people getting there own hair(i am fine with that) and booking and not showing up... pretty upset- so i am thinking of charging a 25$ deposit fee for situations like that which will be applied to there bill the day of. Is this too bi***y? i love doing extensions- but am really getting fed up with stuff- i am very fair but people will try to take and walk all over you.

So far it's 3 days on and I've still not heard anything so I'm guessing she is fine.
It could have been a big shock for her to see herself with long her for the first time and she had an extreme reaction.
barbielocs- I think you are right, I'm going to have to be harder with clients because it seems that people do this type of thing often. All the clients I've ever done have been nothing but 100% fine and any problems are cleared up without any fuss.
I used hot fusion with this install and I trimmed and razored the hair down from 14" to around 12" and it looked great (so I thought)
cybermane- sounds like she is trying to get more freestuff- remind her she did not ike thew first method and that you dont feel comfortable putting them back in
badgalmel- take them out- no refund- i always have a contract signed by my clients so they know it is not healthy to take them out right after they are put in (this is for fusion). i put it in with there deposit agreement.
if someone wants them for a week or 2 or does not seem sure i go with wefts. what method did you do on her? oh maybe you can razor cut the extentions to a length she is happier with- what length was her hair and what length did you pit in?
I had one client like that. She loved it so much, that she cried. When she got home, her hubby said, "what you're trying to look like someone else?' So she wanted them out the next day. My policy states 'No Refund, only Credits' and I would have credited her on a different method, but she refused to.
While we're on this topic...
My question-
Client buys method A. She hates method A. So I credit her on method B {which I did for FREE}. Client loves method B, but after 2 weeks she hates method B and wants to go back to method A.
Girls, I am not a buy one get one free meal here, ya know? How would you handle this client?
Thanks
If it's a health reason she doesn't like method B or because method B causes her pain, I could see doing method A at a discounted rate. Otherwise, she's SOL IMHO.

Well... It's 2 days on and I've not heard a thing! Which leads me to believe that she has either topped herself (God forbid!) or she showed her friends and they have talked her in to keeping the hair in!?!?
Nicey- I think that it's the UK weather that gives people mood swings in this country! I really hope that she doesn't read this board and think that I'm sl*gging her off because I'm not. But she did just have an exorcist moment which I didn't see coming. I've never had anybody cry like that after I've done thier hair, it doesn't make you feel good at all.
I do find it so hard to keep my smile going when people are making your life difficult, is it just the UK where people do try and take the p**s or is it a world wide thing?

take out her hair- and maybe offer her a discount for future services, color or starightening.
i had that happen, three weeks later, the gals said she just didnt feel she looked the same. well durrr you looked better!! anyway- i took them out, told her i would store her hair for her case she wanted them in future and did a full color weave( highlites) at a discount.

Hmmmm...ODD!
I would not refund her the money. In fact, she said it wasn't about the money
Could you maybe thin or layer it...just throwing stuff out there.
Maybe she'll get home, wash it, and get someones approval and be fine with it.
If not, you aren't at fault for someone changing their mind. For example, if you wanted your color from blond to dark brown, then immediately changed your mind...I would not give you your money back.
Weird, yeah, that's crazy, but you did your job. I was about to say maybe cut it shorter, because really long hair can overwhelm me (when you have short hair for years, it's like always getting in your face and you are sitting on it, and what not) but 12 inch?!
Yeah, maybe she will get used to it after a little while and sees it's really worth the work!!

Thats very odd, maybe she's bipolar. In any case. you should keep your money. I don't think you should refund anything. Are you charging for removal?
Lol that is funny! But you could be right!
Seeing how bad she felt made me feel really bad for her. She looked really good in my opinion. She did have puffy hair on top but when I straightened it out it blended well. I only put 14" hair in and trimmed it to just under 12" ish so it wasn't like she has 22" long hair or anything.
The whole way through the install I was telling how to look after the hair and what to expect, which she was totally fine with as she has her own routine that she sticks to by the book.
I wasn't going to charge her for removal, even though I should do really. I just don't want to upset her anymore.
I'll let you know if she does come back today and what happens
if i were you i'd keep my money.....lol, im sorry but i love long hair so much it's just hard to comprehend this person (only 10 minutes later??)...but you did your job and the product and end result isnt faulty, she's just weird....and it's awfully nice of you to be so flexible as to be able to take the time to get them right back out tommorrow for her...have no shame!

i agree with everyone, if her problem had been your install then perhaps i'd feel differently.
honestly i've changed my hair in several drastic ways so it doesn't phase me anymore...but i go through periods of not changing anything and you sort of get sucked in lol - like it's hard to change and it seems "too much". then you give it a day or so and remember that it's fun to change.
i think it will be interesting to see if she comes back at all, she may sleep on it and like it, hehe. it's happened to me, more than once! and i bet if she has a significant other they'll tell her she looks fab....
