I think it's because of the synthetic hair, which is plastic.  I don't think plastic and acetone is a happy couple!Shocked

I used googone on the rest of the wefts and eventually got them clean.  I don't think it was the toothbrush, I really didn't spend much time scrubbing.  It looked like it sucked all the oil out and completely dried them out.

when i had stubborn stickyness left on the wefts (of human hair) i let them sit in a bowl of pure acetone for about a minute, and they came out clean, no more scrubbing even needed...and these were very tiny hand tied wefts...anyway, worked for me!

hmmm, I know Kristie uses this method and hasnt reported any problems. Ive also used a toothbrush to scrub a stubborn spot with no problems. But I dont soak the wefts in acetone either. And you would definitely need to be more careful and easier with handtied wefts. I probably wouldnt try using a toothbrush to scrub a handtied weft.

Thank you for your report, valentine.

Tangles and I both use baking soda to clean our wefts. For me, it doesn't get ALL the sticky out but it's *almost* all gone.

I take baking soda with water and make mine into a thick paste in a bowl and drape just the wefts into it. Work the paste into the weft section with fingertips and soak in the paste/solution again. It takes all of about an hour to do a full install I've removed. Wash & dry! :)

I saw someone here mention they clean their wefts from liquid gold by soaking them in acetone and using a brush to clean them.  I wanted to warn everyone, I worked on it for under 5 minutes and it really dries the thread on the wefts out.  The weft started to deteriorate.  I was preparing for a touch up install since I didn't use enough liquid gold.  I brushed them afterwards and hands of hair came out.  I am using synthetic but it looked like it was eating the wefts.  Luckily this is the last install with this hair and it wont make another install. 
 
I just wanted to warn everyone, the wefts strings started turning white. Luckily I had so much hair installed it wasn't a big deal.
