I liked WaWa. It's very inexpensive and held it's shine and didn't mat on me but I wore it as tracks not fusion. Halleyscurls.com has the best prices I've seen so far and with rave reviews from forum members.

hi quadratic - yep, as mshoney said the keratin bond is what hold the hair on your hair - it's one type of strand-by-strand application. go to www.yourhairshop.com to look at kristin's pictures - she does some link type strand by strand but in her pic gallery she says what is fusion and what is links...
for me as a person who gets pinchbraids professionally - which i love - and has dabbled a bit with fusion with keratin, my dirty dishwater colored hair :) really doesn't jive well with keratin - if it stays in it is a ^&*(*()(*&^&* to remove, but a lot of that probably is my inexperience putting it in :) do a board search - plenty of people do it DIY and love it. it's the removal that usually does the damage if you mind the bonds properly and don't let them mat at the roots..
for me LG is a good DIY method, as is protac tape. I feel like i can put both in okay, remove them okay, and i'm not ruining my hair. everyone is a little different, with different pros and cons.
i have used plastikhaar in the past (a synth brand) which looks fab but feels scratchy when wet - it has it's own set of maintenance and isn't the same as wearing human hair. it's cheaper though - shrinkies.net sells a thermfiber synth, sherrie at hairextensions101 sells wawa...plenty of people here have had variable success with both - i think it depends on what you like and your daily hair routine :)

good luck! let the obsession begin! haha
look around, see what other people with your hair texture, curl pattern, and color are wearing and ask questions - currently i wear bohyme human hair and LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it.

Hi Quadratic,

The keratin is the glue. I don't use synthetic anymore but the other girls will tell you what's best. I use Virgin Indian Remy hair. It matches most textures. If you have a favorite store bought that works well for you that's not expensive(under $30) then it would be a better buy for you than indian remy, take it off the weft. But if you want something that you can use many times I would go for the Virgin Indian Remy hair. It's a better investment in the end. I'll search for the best and the cheapest and will get back to you.

MsHoney - My natural haircolor is a dark ashy dishwater blonde but right now, it's dyed to a strawberry blonde with some blond highlights. The ends get progressively darker after a recent haircolor disaster. (The lady brought the color all the way down to my overprocessed, porous hair instead of just doing the roots...hence why I had to cut it off and get extensions.).....I'm kind of undecided on the synthetic hair since I'm not so sure how it feels to the touch. Does it feel natural? I've seen some amazing results from Boogiemama's photos as well as some others and it looks phenomenal.

Valentine - I bet that actually looks pretty hot. I see this happen all the time where I work. Girls end up looking so tan and perfectly complected. The contrast with the hair and glowing eyes makes guys go gaga.

My natural hair is bleached platinum and with UV glows.  I haven't seen how I look under black light with extensions.  i do have to say, I'm just plain scary looking with the glowing hair, teeth, eyes.  I avoid it now.

Hi.   Why not buy bulk/loose hair and use keratin to do your fusion bonds. Bulk hair is cheaper than weft hair. Liquid Gold glows in blacklight? It also starts to turn white after awhile and that shows a well. What color is your hair at the roots? Keratin comes in different colors to match your hair and you can make your bonds micro size and make the bonded area short so that your hair can cover it eventhough it's very short.

Hi there and thank you for the link. I was thinking about doing that but I think Sherrie mentioned in a thread somewhere that a lot of shedding occurs from that. So I was thinking if I left the weft on the shedding would be minimized but still....the sides of the cut weft pieces shed hair.

You know, that's actually a good idea. If I paint the weft first with Liquid Gold on the back side of the weft only and let it dry, that might secure the weft from fraying. Then I also would be safe from painting the front side too (concealing the LG from the black light).... Ok, I just tested a piece and it helped!  I didn't notice any shed/fraying on the sides.
Now all I would have to do is reapply the Liquid Gold when I'm ready to apply to hair.

I only know that LG clear glows. I'm not sure if the dark LG glows funny at all. I used to have Great Lengths many eons ago, and I had several people point out my beads which were beaming on my head. Ever since then I became so anal retentive about different extension methods/brands and which glow or not. Some of them don't. I don't remember which ones though. I wonder if one is platinum blonde that it helps to disguise/blend the "beads" with the hair since platinum hair glows too.

hey there - have you seen this tutorial from doc locks?
http://www.doctoredlocks.com/store/demo/lg_off_track/frames.htm

other folks can chime in here, but overall i'd say the purpose of the nail glue is to hold your tip together....i'd think, although never tried it, it may hold the strands of hair together better than LG, but if LG is all that's holding the hair to YOUR hair (haha confusing) then why not do it all LG to keep it a smooth level application?

i didn't know LG did glow under a black light. interesting! i think on the LG website they talk about doing LG fusion, but of course as you state it doesn't last very long..it would likely depend on how often you wash your hair, brush, etc etc.

hope that helps!

Update:
I went out to the store and picked up some nail glue and also compared some of the other glues.

First of all, Elmer's glue and all comparables in the school supply aisle claim to be non-toxic and dry clear (which is good) but washable (bad because shampooing might wash it out). Is Aileen's washable too? I've heard the No Frays is good for the pliability and dries clear (I think this was
mentioned in a thread somewhere).

Secondly,  nail glue contains the ingredient ethly cyanoacrylate (which is the basic ingredient in Krazy Glue). This worried me because I'm not sure how it would act when I spray the Goo Gone in to take out the Liquid Gold. Would the nail glue break down too but cause a big mess? Or would the nail glue react funny when heat is applied and seep into my hair. Hmm..
I did a search and found this:
(The site itself is commercial but I found some of the articles informative.)

I did however, give the nail glue the black light test to see if
cyanoacrylate glows in the black light and it passed that test. Some nail glues also have an ingredient called Polymethyl Methacrylate in it, so I don't know that might glow though.

If anyone here works in a bar/nightclub or have even gone out clubbing
and have your glowing beads/wefts pointed out, you feel my pain about the UV light.

Hi there everyone. I have supershort hair right now and I've decided to go with Liquid Gold. I just had wefts though (LG'd to hair) and blending was pretty tough (major mullet, mushroom head). So I'm thinking what if I imitated fusion with the Liquid Gold. I plan to keep the hair on the weft but just cut small pieces (which actually lay flat and don't cause head bumps!). I'm worried about some shedding though still.

I saw on another tutorial where someone pre-tipped the hair while it was still on the weft, then made I-tips. So I was thinking, what if I painted the weft and top hair with nail glue, then after drying snipped fusion
pieces off (keeping the weft on)? Do you think the nail glue would ruin my hair since there's no shrink tube or anything to pad it from my hair? (just the Liquid Gold on the back of the weft). Does nail glue glow in the black light? Would this prevent the shedding I'm having when I snip a wefted piece? Would it run into my hair if I I blowdry or accidentally apply too much heat?

On another tangent.... I found that Liquid Gold (Clear) glows in the black light. I have a black light lamp and gave it the "nightclub" test. So I don't plan on sandwiching since I'm going to try and keep the LG disguised. I'm a bartender so I hate the fact the LG glows, but I love how easy it is to get out with Goo Gone.
