No, unfortunately washing it won't remove the oiliness.  The sillicone stuff is designed to keep the hair feeling silky through many washings, that's why they put the stuff on.  I suppose after 50-100 washings it might come off...

can you wash the hair before isntalling it? Wouldnt that remove any coating or residue on the hair?

Thanks for the replies.  Unfortunately the client wants 'permanent' extensions, not clip on ones.

Metal, I know what you mean, I hate that crap. When the hair arrives with the silicone coating it makes the hair look dirty. It's a method a lot of Indian hair suppliers use to smooth cuticle.

I bought some skin wefts from Hairpiece.com for one of my clients.  I have nevered ordered their skin wefts before.  Anyway, it was so coated with the sillicone crap that the protac tape would not stick at all to the top skin portion!

I wiped it down 3 times with acetone, and then it stuck only slightly better.  I applied it with adhesive to my client, but let's see how  long they will stay in her hair with all that sillicone stuff.  I won't be suprised if she calls me within a week and says that they slipped out.

I hate this sillicone stuff!  It totally interferes with the adhesion process of the extensions, and then when the extensions come out prematurely, it makes me look bad!  I can honestly say that it's hurting my business quite a bit!Angry
