Straight without and iron? HELP!

Just out of curiosity, what kind of iron did you use, and how often did you get a trim? That can make all the difference.

I recently got my hair cut (it's not looking good but it'll grow) I have very fine hair and it's in a bob cut just below my chin. My hair is reallllly dry and i really want to stop using my straightening iron wince that's why i had to get it cut in the 1st place. I had so many split ends i couldn't take it anymore. If i don't staighten my hair with an iron though it seems it's always frizzy and unmanagable. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting is smoother without the iron? Thanks!
