Just for fun, to renew the animal rights debate, here's a video that I think is hysterical. Mind you, I love kitties... but this is a real device called a Pet Spa in a real pet store. I laughed until I cried...
OMG poor poor kitty.. Okay so when I was watching this I found a related video.. This one had me in tears as well.. I think it's the narrator's accent and tone that makes this video priceless..
I know.. the song really makes the video. WTF was someone thinking, inventing a machine like that?... I can see that dogs might be okay with it, but I've never had a kitty who would just sit still and take a shower while water was spraying all over it. I've given cats a bath and have the scars to prove it, so maybe it IS a better way??? But, you're right... the poor kitty. It IS so funny, though...

T.V has run out of so many materials, They are making huge Money of Reality T.V. And they know the audience want to see, Tears, Drama, Scandal, and Humiliation.
And you can bet that they will make magic to make you an interesting character out of you for their ratings.
Sad, Sad, Sad.
oh that is for sure, they all need drama so we have something to talk about. i learned that about the show we did. while i dont regreat for a min our show, they did cut out alot of fun stuff we did with her and bonding to make it more interesting and for people to have something to chat about!
Yep, DivaV, most of those meats are just perfect with good red wine. I'm getting hungry myself just thinking about all the tasty animals there are out there to eat, and all the yummy wines to go with them!
My guy and I just really like the taste of some food items that are more exotic. Unfortunately, some of those items, like foie gras, veal, lamb, and wild game, can't be produced without some poor creature suffering to get them. One of my vegan friends says that she can't eat anything that she herself could not kill. I respect that position, and can say that in fact I could kill a goose or deer or lamb if necessary to be able to enjoy the food I eat.
I also respect and try to live (and cook) by the mindset common amongst French chefs that waste is a bad thing... if you kill an animal for food you should be willing to eat all the parts, not just the tenderloin. For example, my guy and I were at a restaurant dining on wild Scottish woodc*ck (a game bird) over the holidays and were served the cooked head as well as the meat from the body. We enjoyed and ate all the parts with equal relish. I guess it is just a lifestyle choice based on personal preference and taste.
Gosh Kristie.. You're making me hungry!!! I've tried all the meats you name and love 'em all.. I even made a wild boar roast for Christmas dinner.. (yummy!!!) I've never tried foie gras, or wild Scottish woodc*ck , but now you've got me wanting to make a trip down to hang with you and your guy for some exotic cuisine!!!! (and some good wine too -- preferably a good red)

i was once at a chinese buffet and they had little steamed baby octupus in a pan....they really looked pitiful....i didnt eat one, i poked it and it was rubbery, and it seemed to have kind of a sad face, that is if i was looking at its face (im kinda not sure which side was the face) but i ate a whole lotta other crap, it proably was a total of about seven different animals actually, im sorry.

I too don't have a lot of respect for people who eat stuff just so they can boast about it. For me that kind of person is like those who choose to wear clothes or purses with expensive labels just because they cost a lot.

I said some people, I don't think all people who choose to eat meat are sadistic, but I have met people who only eat certain meats to brag about how the animal was killed and abused. One girl once even bragged about eating 7, yes 7, different animals in one meal (yes she was fat!) it's really sad some people need the "shock value" kind of attention.

I though when you said that anyone who eats a food item like foie gras knowing what suffering the animals go through to produce it was selfish and sadistic. I must have I misread your post. Sorry, my mistake, I guess.

Yep, I know all about how foie gras is made. It
doesn't matter to me one bit. I wrote to Kimberly that seeing how it is
produced wouldn't change my opinion whatsoever. I could easily be a
spokesperson for a food item I liked in spite of how much cruelty to
animals it took to get the product. (Laughing...for me PETA stands for
People Eating Tasty Animals.
Kristie!!! EEEEWWW!!!
I appreciate your honesty though

I actually saw a documentary on how foie gras is made.
Foie gras: the torture of force feeding (read: force stuffing) a goose by shoving a funnel up its' throat. The images of that are still fresh in my memory...*shudder*...The liver will expand to enormous size very quickly...then the goose is killed for the liver.
Yummie!
That is sad, it amazes me people would want to eat something like that,
esp. if they know where it comes from, I guess some people are just
self absorbed and sadistic.

And yep, I'm a big advocate of animals being used for research as well until some comparable alternative is developed.) For me there is a huge distinction between humans and animals. I could not be a spokesperson for a product that was created out of human misery, in spite of the fact that I might still choose to be a consumer of that product. Being informed about the human hair trade would be interesting for me, even if it were in context of a cheesy reality show where a fan of extensions chose to participate in making herself look like an a$$. I watch Survivor and The Amazing Race mostly because I like watching people consenting to make themselves look stupid. I sent the email to Kimberly because I thought seeing the foie gras industry would be interesting and I'd never turn down the opportunity for a free trip to France.
