I think it's because when it air drys the frizzez can start to stick out.The sooner you dry,the less time they have a chance to frizz before the dryer is blowing them down.
I have definitely noticed this too.

I also noticed that a while ago. I used to always blowdry my hair right away after washing it. But recently I decided to give up the blowdryer, but soon realized that my hair is just too full and not nearly as shiny as I want it to be as when I blowdry it.
So I went back to using a blowdryer again.
It's definitely better to dry it right away. My hair also looks much smoother, shinier, and healthier afterwards.
so normally after i wash my hair i towel dry a little and let it air dry for a while before I blow dry it. but lately i've noticed that when i towel dry it and then blow dry right after getting out of the shower it comes out much smoother and shinier and healthier looking. has anyone else noticed this? if you haven't. give it a try! :]
