search and destroy means to find split ends and snip them off before they spread down to your hair roots. A trim every 8 weeks is good for hair, because you can get rid of any formed split ends before they manifest to the roots. Beside a trim will make your hair neater looking because it trims the end to make the hair look more even and less bushy at the ends.

irish/vietnamnese parentage, never heard that combination before. its kinda hard to determined what kind of hair if you are mixed. i mean it could 100% asian with it being blacker, thicker, straighter and coarser or 100% caucasian with it being browner, finer, smoother and a little bit curvy, or it can be a combination of both.

Been growing my hair out for about a year and a half now after having my head completely shaved. ive had it cut maybe once this entire time, and now im wondering if i should get it cut again. ive had a lot of people tell me that its good to get it trimmed every now and then but im looking for another opinion.  ive heard people talking about "search and destroy" as well, but i have no idea what to look for.  trying to do whats going to be best for my hair to keep it healthy, and to keep it from looking like a mullet.  is a trim now necesscary? will it help my hair in the long run? or would i be better off just letting it grow out more now?

My hair is Irish/Vietnamese, if it helps.
thanks
