There's basically three sizes in clips most commonly used; small, medium, large. A small clip isn't as deep and the "teeth" are shorter. 1" of hair is enough for the clip to attach to and then an inch of hair can cover the weft. That doesn't leave any margin of error for a windy day, though.   Anything 2" or longer should work pretty good. For thin hair, the small clips would feel the most comfortable.

How short could you have your hair and still wear clip in extensions? For instance, if I got a bob, would it still looke alright. I have really thin hair by the way.
