I have semi over permanent color -- no problem. I did the permanent color, and a salon did the semi color to reduce the brassiness on top.
Semi is less damaging ... so personally I'd go for the semi! Would you still be doing it at the salon or yourself? I don't think the process is any different, only you would need to touch up your roots a little more often, but since you do it every 6 weeks anyway, I'm not sure it would have to be that much more often. You could always try it once and see how long it covers those greys.

I have been getting my hair permanently salon colored (gray roots touched up every six weeks), and am now wanting to switch to semi-permanent. Is that even possible? What would the procedure be?
