No, I don't measure it. I am not sure I know how. It's a little bit layered... but just the ends. It breaks easily too. The ends looked really dry eventhough I spray it with the leave-in treatment.

How fast does your hair grow each month(on average)? Do you measure it?

Thanks for all the replies! I have a leave in treatment that I use everytime I shampoo. I put it all over my hair and then put a plastic cap over it. I let it stay for at least 5 mins. Then I wash it out. I have a leave conditioner also that I spray on my hair after. That one I don't have to rinse out.

I have read before that using a leave in treatment everyday is bad for your hair and that is what I am afraid of. I try to use the treatment everyday eventhough it said to use once or twice a week. I put more on the ends since they are the driest areas.

I think maybe, I should use the treatment every other day instead of everyday and use a regular conditioner in between days?

Thanks again!

never use vasaline on you hair. my hairdresser said it is very hard to get out of our hair. my hairdresser told me a story that 2 girls in the shop were playing around with vasaline and put it in there hair. after they weren't sure if they could get it out. it took many washing.

Believe it or not, a lot of hair care products use Vaseline in their formulations: John Frieda Relax conditioner, KMS Paste, and all sorts of waxes. pomades and styling products. You'll see it listed as petrolatum. There's nothing inherently wrong with using Vaseline when it's in a product; you just don't want to smear pure petrolatum on your head. Here's one of several pieces Karen wrote about what can happen if you do this:

I agree, hair CAN be overconditioned. It is rare for someone with damaged/dry hair to overcondition though. You need as much conditioning as you can get!
It's the "normal" hair that can get overconditioned. This type of hair has enough proteins, and is in good condition already, too much conditioner for hair in good condition = too much of a good thing.

For example, vitamins are good for you, BUT, if you take too many(handfuls a day) you can loose your hair and become sick.

...That's why deep conditioners are ment for damaged hair... they contain a lot of proteins

HTH!

as far as i know it, you Can overcondition your hair and you Can overdose on protein in hair care prodcuts. What would putting vaseline on your hair do? i've heard to Never ever do that. it may make it Feel softer but i think its just coating your hair with thick stuff.

hey
There is no such thing as overconditioned hair. a good treatment would contain lots of protein and or amino acids. Leave in treatments are not too bad but it is better to use protein deep conditioning treaments. the one that requires 20-30minutes under a hot hooded dryer or a hot damp towel wrapped around your head.

your hair may FEEL dryer at times but it does not mean it is dry. Use a little palmade or vasaline if you like to make your hair feel softer after a treatment.

I'm sorry...I might just be dense but I don't see the difference between a leave-in conditioner and treatment, as a conditioner IS a type of treatement. The Ion product you're using is just a standard silicone/detangling agent-based product that will not harm your hair. It might cause buildup with repeated use but you can solve that by using a gentle clarifying shampoo as necessary. Good luck! :-)

Is there such thing as over conditioning your hair? I have dyed my hair so many times in the past month! I mean month. I dyed it back to black which is my natural color, I got bored with it and went to my stylist. She didn't want to color my hair, she said it will dry up so bad. Black is hard to get rid off. What she did was add some brown highlights to soften the color. She also said to use a leave in conditioner at least twice a week. I bought Ion Leave In Treatment, and I have been using it everyday. Is that bad??? I have long hair and I don't want ruin it anymore than I already have. Please someone tell me if using a leave in conditioner everyday is bad for my hair... THANKS!
