YOu might try a thermosynthetic if you want a high shine. It takes some getting used to - you still have to straighten ( or curl) it damp to get the softness back after washings but , it stays supershiny!

the hair really does look nice, I can understand if it's course and you want something else. You should also consider making your own clip ins but mixing 2 colors. You could also concider the coconut oil to condition it then use a clairol clear colorgloss until you find the hair you want.

because the hair is so coarse in texture (which is the reason i can't run my fingers through the extensions), it also tangles a lot, even without me moving much.
that makes it really difficult as then i have those 'nests' on my head.
this is why the coarsness bothers me. (and try having a man play with your hair... he might get tangled in permanently! ;)

my latest extensions are clipped in. you can see not only a different tone in color, but also the texture is different. the clip-ins look too fake for me to wear in the public in daylight.
i can't really run my fingers through the clip-on hair either... it's really coarse.

Vangirl, I am not a blonde but it sounds like the texture of our hair is very similar. You can check my Fotki link in my sigature to see my pictures if you'd like.
I found a pretty good match to my texture with Indian hair that I purchased both from Amm at shrinkies.net and from Wagman Primus. I had to work with it a LOT to get it to be as smooth and silky as mine and it tended to get quite frizzy. I can't speak about the blonde colors in Indian hair. I know that producing blonde hair from virgin black hair can be quite damaging to the hair.
I'm now happily wearing silky, straight Russian hair. It is a perfect textural match to mine. I've had my Russian hair in for almost 5 weeks now. No work, no tangling, no need for special smoothing products... it is truly amazing! Because I wear a dark copper color that isn't present in natural colors, I had to purchase a close match and color it myself. The hair is virgin so it colored beautifully. People have commented both on the silky texture and rich color of my new hair. For a blonde, I believe the hair can be purchased in a naturally light color and then gently colored or tinted to match your own.
I've never worn Bohyme but I got a chance to feel a gorgeous thick piece of it recently. It is silky and shiny but the texture is definitely MUCH coarser than super-fine Northern European hair. I've seen some women get a good textural match with it, especially when their natural hair is more processed. Some of the blondes I know swear by Bohyme.
Bohyme and Russian hair are both pretty pricey. But for silky, fine textured hair, that Russian hair is worth every cent you pay to get a perfect match in texture!

i'm asking to see if you're speaking from personal experience.
there are tons of people who recommend all kinds of products, sadly, most of them will be resellers or stylists promoting the products that they sell. i do not trust that as there is a business interest vested.
i'd be interested in a recommendation coming from a person who has experienced the hair first-hand (of should i say 'first-head'), and has no commercial interest vested.
do you have a photo of your hair so i can see if it's like mine?

It's usually cheaper hair that does that. It's coated with tons of silicone and once it washes out, it doesn't look so fine and silky anymore.
I have darker hair, and quite the opposite, dry, coarse hair, but I used bohyme french refined, and it was very fine hair (even though it was curly) and very silky.
I also hear it's great quality for blondes. So I would say try some of the bohyme silky straight, lots of people on here have worn it and posted pictures, so you could even check out some of those, from how it sounds, I would imagine it would be a good match.

Bohyme silky straight (the best sites to me are hairextensions101, ebonyline, hairsisters)
Have a good routine, get a shower filter, use non sulfate shampoos, use conditioner every time you wash your hair, use heat protectant if you use hot tools, and if you use a straightening iron, get the Solia Tourmaline iron (check it out on folica.com), it's amazing and will keep all the shine and silkiness you want for months!
I have worn Bohyme for 4 months and it looked still nice.
I think that's it!

i've got blond fine silky straight hair and have gone through 2 sets of hair extensions already. much to my disappointment, the extensions, while shiny, straight and silky at the time of purchase, lost their lustre and changed texture with time. i washed the first set, which apparently was a mistake (according to the store i bought the extensions from).
determined to get better quality that will last in the same shape i got them in, i bought some velvet outre silky straight remi hair (the burgundy package you will see on the internet). that, however, lasted only about a month before it started losing its natural lustre and texture. now when i wear those i look like i have fake hair on my head. the silkiness and texture don't match my natural hair anymore.
not sure if others experienced this kind of problem as well?
are there any other hair extension afficionados who have naturally fine silky straight hair with high shine? how did you find the hair that lasts?
it would probably be helpful to note that my hair is highlighted also, it's naturally dark blonde, and the hair that i bought so far was F18/22 and F14/24 (later set).
