Real dreds do not come out unless you cut them out!! :) There are products like extra strong gels, some waxes, and some stuff called hair mud, that will put your hair in "fake" dreds and then washes out. Check out the Trade Secrets store/salon in your local mall. They sell all the salon brands and usually have someone there who can give you advice. Real dreds occur when your hair is twisted for so long that it gets all clumped and matted together. There are skilled people who can do this in a way that it still looks neat, but it really is like a bunch of knots and like I said---the only way to change after that is to cut them all off.
Here is a hairdo that I do with sticks: Make a bun using an elastic and bobby pins that can not be seen when you are finished and then just put the sticks in anywhere.
Hope that helps!! :)

I use hairsticks sometimes. First I make a bun and then stick them through. I`ve done one going in from each side to make and X and I`ve done it where both go in from one side. If you picture a clock I would but one in at the 1 and one at 2. If that makes sense. I`ve also done it where I braided a ponytail and then made a bun and used the sticks. This works better because I could get the sticks anchored under the hair scrunchie. Sometimes it takes me a couple of tries to get it right.
I`m a clueless guy who has always loved long hair.. I`ve always just worn it in a pony tail but for some unexplainable reason I have the urge to use hair sticks... I can`t seem to get a "solid" fit though to hold them in place..it always unravels easily. What`s the proper method for using them? Do I twist my hair then wrap around that twisted base? What angle of entry do the sticks take?
I`m sure this is the most base of questions..but I can`t get the simple logistics to work.
Also, I`ve been contemplating dred`ing it lately. Is there a "healthy" way to do it and can it later be undone? All my friends that have dreds are just complete knots..in some cases clumped together with glue.. I could never do such a thing.
