Another excellent natural conditioner is monoi oil. The product is a refinement of an ancient Polynesian beauty secret and has been manufactured commercially since 1942. Monoi makes an outstanding conditioner for long hair. Simply pour a small amount into the palm of your hand and massage into your scalp and dry ends. Leave on overnight and uncover your hair`s natural body and sheen after shampooing in the morning. Or, use as a weekly hot oil treatment. Warm your Monoi bottle under hot tap water until it is quite warm. Apply generously all over your hair, especially if it is dry, dull or chemically damaged. Cover your hair with a plastic cap and with a towel to create a warming effect which will help the deep-conditioning process. Leave on for 30 minutes. Then wash your hair thoroughly and see the difference! It even makes a fantastic skin moisturizer and bath oil. It massages quickly into the skin, smoothing away dryness. Reminder: Authentic Monoi Oil will solidify in colder weather. Simply run hot tap water over the bottle to turn the Monoi back to liquid form. You can get it at some health food stores or on line. I highly recommend it!

I really like the line of products by L`anza for dry hair (http://www.lanza.com/1-dryhair.cfm) Hair normally has a moisture content of approximately 10%. If your hair’s moisture content drops below this level the key is to increase the hair’s ability to attract and retain moisture. This is accomplished by using moisturizers. Good ones have "humectants" that not only replace lost moisture but actually attract moisture and retain it in the cortex of the hair. Essential fatty aids (EFA’s) are great moisturizers. One of the best and most cost effective essential fatty acids is safflower oil. It is the kind you can buy to cook with. It is rich in EFA’s. The scalp produces the best EFA’s called sebum. The problem is once the hair grows past the neck line or does not have direct contact with the scalp the scalps natural oils can not be utilized throughout the hair shaft. At this point you can manually replace the lost EFA’s by: 1) Placing 1 or 2 drops of safflower oil in your palms and rub them together. 2) There should only be enough to make your hands "shine" in the light. 3) Carefully take your hair (while dry) and "scrunch" the small amount of oil to the ENDS first and work toward the scalp. 4) Leave this in your hair. 5) 1-2 drops of safflower oil on dry hair is so small, you won’t notice it is there. By doing this as often as necessary, you will ensure your dry hair will have the proper amount of humectants to attract and reatin moisture. The key is a small amount will go a long way.

Ever since the weather got cold, my hair has dried out tremendously!!!! :( I have naturally thick, dry hair that is highlighted. Does anyone know any products that will moisturize my hair and make it soft again?
