My first 3 installs on myself were with shrinkies, I loved them (although my fingers got burned alot!).  When heating the shrinkies for removal pull on the extension hair only - yes the shrinkie may stay in your hair but it will be easier to remove with orange oil or acetone once the  the extension hair is out (let the orange oil soak in for 1-2 mins).  I experienced nearly no pulling on my natural hair by doing this, be gentle and patient.

OK, I took the ENTIRE weekend and put the extensions in.  I have short hair, to my chin and above, layered, etc.  I have alwaysz only used extensions for fullness and volume, as I am plat blonde and need them!  Anyhow, because I have so much hair on hand, I decided to go long.  Oh my gosh, long is so not me!!!!  I am sure If I could have lasted a little longer and had a good cut, I would have loved it, but I was just too anxious to chop them off.  So I lasted until this morning and chopped it all off, back to a little below chin level.  Yes, I know, I AM A FREAK!!!!!  And then tonight, I see the girls on Deal or No Deal.  Agh, THAT is the hair I want!!!!!  So now I have a full head of hair that is above my shoulders, WAY too much.  So I have been trying to take out some of the shrinkies based on the tips of this website and am having kindof a hard time.  I am keeping the heat and pulling the shrinkie all the way down to end of hair but I can never get the shrinkie very far before the extension comes out and I am left with the shrinkie still in there.  VERY very difficult to get the shrinkie out at that point, whether heat or acetone or oil.  What am I doing wrong?

Secondly, with all this hair I am in bad need of a proper haircut.  I have seen all the tips on cutting hair extensions and I do cut other peoples hair, but I just can't seem to get it with this hair, or at least what I want. What do you guys do?  DIY or go to someone?  I don't think there is anyone who will just CUT hair extensions in Dallas, unless someone knows otherwise????

Fina, I am calling you tomorrow!!!!  Been so stressed this weekend with this damn install!  Wish I had come to you!!!

I would suggest you make your own pre tipped hair. This is not as hard as it may seem and have you have the benefit of using the hair and hair color that you desire. If you do a search on hair boutique, there are some samples of how to do this. I have done it twice and was very pleased with the results. Shrinkies are great by the way!
Who says diva's aren't loveable?

Check out amm's #614 in Elite Remy:  http://shrinkies.net/elite.html  I asked her about this last summer and she said "614 is shockingly pale. There is no gold or yellow in it at all. It's a pure platinum, imo."

Pretipping is easy and I'll be happy to help you with it whether you want to do shrinkies or fusion, or if you want to try pinchbraiding (oh please please please say yes!!) we can do that too. . . ;-)

Thanks for the tip!  Yes, please let me know glue brand.  The hair I got yesterday is dr locks #60.  NOt too happy with it.  Not soft and silky like I expected plus it still has a bit of a gold tinge to it.  I got the #613 as well and they are VERY close in color.

what hair did you get??? I either pretip with LG or lately I have noticed its too yellow and I have been pretipping it with a clear glue from like walmart or JoAnns..I think its caleld Aileens or something..i can look when i get home...But i dont raelly have a problem of shedding at all....and i actually like the aileens better becuase when i take out my extensions..i usually do shrinkies...I dont have NEARLY as much residue stuck to my hair as if I did if i used LG..which is nice, and alot easier to clean out of my hair! :-)

I actually just received #60 from dr locks yesterday.  It is not nearly that expensive, but still quite a bit of gold in it and the quality is not so great.  I am so used to Great Lengths.  So, let me ask you?  How do you tip such large amounts of hair without fall out/shedding?  Everytime I do too much, so much comes out when I brush.

it is really really light ash/platinum blonde, but i also have to bleach it to get it my colour, which is the same as snowwhite's, think Holly from Girls of the Playboy Mansion...i agree its worth the hassle of bleaching, American Dream hair in Platinum Extreme is the only hair I've found, within my budget that can withstand the bleach, and feel exactly the same afterwards x

the customer service is really crap, their still not online, you have to order over the phone, but ive got the number to get directly to the ordering bit, not the customer service bit (they phoned me back off it once and i saved it to my phone - hehe!)
the hair is so good though, i think its worth the hassle x

I actually buy the Bohyme Silky Straight in #613..and yes it is WAY to gold for me!! But i posted a while back that I did have success bleaching it, and its still feels amazing!! Thats how I have my platnium color (think holly from girls next door almost).....I know its a pain to do, But i have only found like 2 places that sell colour 60...dr locks..but its like $300 or something for hair which is crazy! and then a  place overseas, but im still tryen to find some reviews on there, and I pretip the hair myself too...but make sure you bleach it first and honestly its worth it to do it yourself because you can get it to your color almost exactly, and then you can make the pretips the size you like (i like mine bigger than what most places offer so i can get the max amount of hair in a shrinkie :-)  )Goodluck!

Its really really HARD to find platinum blonde hair. Very few brands lighter than #613 and most #613 has a gold tone....Disapprove

hey kttenface, hows the customer service with AD? There used to be alot of chatter here about AD and then customer service went to HELL. No email responses, no service, never had anything in stock that people wanted to order.  Last I knew they still didnt have an online shop to order from. But everyone was in love with AD's thermo and wanted to get their hands on it.

It's my last name, actually. My middle initial is "g". The middle name is so horrible I never tell anyone. Thanks, Mom!
