I got them at Sally's. They have quite a selection, all price ranges.

I don't know why some of us are plagued with splits. Now my husband's hair is long. He does everything wrong. Never careful with his hair at all. When it's wet he tears through it with a brush and I cringe. But he doesn't have a whole lot of split ends. (I cut his hair 2 years ago). He doesn't wash it but maybe 3 times a week and sometimes he just rinses it thoroughly instead of using shampoo.

He is always telling me to give my hair a rest.

I wash mine every day, once in a while I let it go two days... I condition it, put hot oil treatments on it, I use seamless combs and always handle it so gentle when I do brush or comb it. I just cut it last month, so I have no problems yet. But I want to grow it out for a couple of years without a trim and see what happens. Usually I'm not overwhelmed with split ends, but I work at it too.

I just don't know if I can go that long. I'm always snipping at it.
Precious is the day... it happens only once in a lifetime.

Thank you, wittils. Maybe I'll invest in a better pair of scissors. It's hard for me to tell if my hair gets pushed down the blade before it actually gets cut. It's not too noticeable if it does happen. Although... the hair does clearly get bent some before it cuts, and that's not good. (I'm sitting here at my computer cutting away at a fallen-out hair )

Where did you buy your Eclipse scissors?

i looked at my husband's scissors and the say ICE 6 1/2. my husband is a house painter and he found them in a empty house years ago. he found other things like a hair shaver too.
these scissors are the only kind that will cut his hair. we misplace them awhile back and he tried using my scissors but they couldn't cut his hair. finally we found them again. even though my husband has short hair i look through is hair and i can't find one single split end. this makes me mad lol.

No, No, No... Professionals should use the best because we pay for their services. But us'ins should use the best we can afford for reasons that were explained elsewhere in another discussion.

Mine are a brand called Eclipse and they were only 28.00. When I cut my hair or someone else's the hair doesn't push away and the results are so much better. And each strand is cut clean, not damaged.

I've used the Conair brand, but I went through lots of pairs of scissors for some reason, over a long time frame, but the Eclipse have lasted a very long time.

It's just better for the hair if the blades are sharp whether it's one split at a time or a blunt cut, etc.

[QUOTE=SuperGrover] Sounds normal to me. I do trims like that on myself from time to time, too.

Though in other discussion here, people have said that using your own scissors is bad. According to them, hair should be cut with professional, really sharp scissors that cost hundreds of dollars.
Cutting hair with anything less results in a damaged end that will just split again.

But that's THEIR opinion. I'm still snipping away with my $7.99 Conair Hair Shears.

call me crazy but lately i've been obsessive about my split ends. to day i had my husband go through my hair to snip them out. he got 12 or 13 out. after i saw about 4 or 5 little split ends left that he couldn't see. of course i found them lol. is this a lot?
