Forgive me for being in here with the ladies but I couldn't help but to answer this post.

My girl uses http://www.strengthofnature.com/productindex.asp just about any of the ones in the round jar will provide good moisture there the same I think just different colors. Then to lock the moisture in she uses the product we make called SeaSick. It's like a pomade to explain it best but it's all natural and provides a hold with the strength most would expect from gel once it has dried.

She likes to use it most after her press goes away to make a tight brushed back ponytail. She thought it woul make her hair curl up because SeaSick contains water but that was not the case. So now she uses it like once a day to maintain her ponytail.

for moisture adding some glycerine to your regimine would be helpful, particularly if you are in a humid climate (stear clear if you are in a dry, arid region).  i'm partial to sta-so-fro, diluted with a bit of water.

i dont know how curly/coily your hair is, but you are more apt to see a subtle 'sheen' rather than the shine on bone straight hair.  for that oils mixed in with my leave in tend to do the trick.  I like Jamaican Mango & Lime oil, EVOO, and/or avocado.

kelli is right though, all hair is unique so some tinkering will be necessary

This is a trip only you can take carliss.
Everyone's hair is different and what works for some, may not work for you and vice versa.
i had to learn that my hair was dry and brittle because there was too much protein and not enough moisture. Some people's hair is very thirsty and some aren't. i learned i don't need alot of protein
right now i wash my hair with conditioner only like 2x week to get it moisturized. clarify as needed to remove build up and deep condition once a month if i feel it needs it.
currently i am bagging my whole head at night after i put some moisturizer in it. this helps to keep it soft and moist during the day. I may need to clarify and deep condition soon by the way my hair feels.

i currently use s-curl for moisture and aloe or coconut oil to seal.
These are a few of the ideas i picked up on this site and LHCF/ napputrality.com/motowngirl.com, etc.

I recently cut off all of my relaxed hair. My hair is now about 1'' long. My goal is to wear my own low cut w/o using chemicals. My problem is that my hair gets very dry throughout the day. What product can I buy to keep my natural curls moisturized, shiny yet nongreasy?
