I'm not sure if you would for the one you plan on, for me I am planning on it because it needs to fit over a bun, and therfore maintain more of a shape.

Oh this sounds great, but why would I need to stiffen the lace?

I'd get some lace in a simliar color, some piping or something like that to stiffen up the edges, and some toupee clips. What would I need to make a base for my extensions. like the ones from Jessica Simpson hairdo. I want somthing that has lots of hair but all on one piece. If you look on her hairsite, you can see the underside of the extensions with the clips attached. I want to make this myself by  sewing the wefts and clips on something like that .  like a multilevel contoured piece. Hope I make sense
