I would definitely be interested in this as well...I would love to learn how it works. Whether I would have the patience to actually do an entire head by myself is questionable, but it would be nice to know how it works even if I want to pay someone else to do it for me.
I think that being able to see how a method works can really help you choose what would be best for your hair and situation...it's hard to decide what you want done if you don't know anything about the various procedures. That is where I am at right now...I'm trying to get the most knowledge that I can about all of the methods before deciding which one I want.
But of course I am 100% intrested. Stylists have to eat too!
Stylists have to be committed to 3-7 days of tedious work, and they should be compensated, but I sometimes ponder if the price is maybe meant to discourage the client from requesting such a tedious technique. Maybe the staylist does not like having to be with the same client for that length of time. I know that there is money to be made doing different things that the general public will be more apprehensve doing such as coloring, cutting, etc so it's not like we are putting them out of business. We are DIY'rs and it's not as if their clients will come to us for the technique. As far fetched as it is ........if one of their clients came across the demo, they may decide its something they don't want to have to do themselves.
Information is is powerful. Let's share resources. I know I could certainly use the help.
On a personal note, my hair is my crowning glory, and it does affect my self esteem to look better is to feel better about myself. Not in a superficial way....but you know what I mean....it gives me that confident edge. I fell into a deep depression several mos ago, and I was a mess. My hair truly suffered. Now I am back, and feeling good about myself from inside out, head to toe. My hair is the healthiest it's been sinse my mama stopped doing it as a lil' girl.
I have been researching this topic sinse 03-04.
I don't want to give the impression of a free loader or just down right needy, but I need some assistance I DO NOT WANT TO RECK MY HAIR doing the technique all wrong. Please be a resource to others and share your experiences, triumps, and disasters. We need to get information on techniques that work, and are realistic. Realistic meaning it will not ruin our own natural hair. Different things work for different folks...right? Please believe me your time will not be wasted.
MSHONEY, is there anything I, the professional novice, can do to help?

They're really all the same technique only slightly different. We really need to get together and take the best parts of this technique that we have learned and come up with some type of demo, maybe a YOU TUBE video or something.
One of the reasons we DIY is because of the ridiculous prices some salons charge. We'll I have yet to see a technique with a price that is this outrageous. I know it's a big time investment for a stylist to do this, 3-7 days, but $1000-$6000 is unreasonable.
So is anyone interested?
I've just posted this under the undetectable strand post:
Here's a list of the least expensive ones I've found and posted here for someone else. This is my summary:
You may also want to consider microillusions. They can take 3-7 days to install. The price is between $1000-$4000. They're similiar to pinch braids but aren't braided more than a 1/4 down, the extension hair is then wrapped around your hair and then two pieces of the extension hair is then tied off. Gina posts a similar type that uses a micro hook and ties off into a little knot.
Only your hair and the extension hair is used, no string, monofibre, glue, links etc. Usually last 8 months to a year. Also called undetectable strands invisible strands and undetectable hair.
They're so tiny you can barely see them, you have to be looking for them and you can't feel them at all. About five strands of hair attached to 5 strands of your own hair. That's why they're "invisible" to the eye and touch, takes so long and costs so much dang on money
I don't think this salon has traveling stylist, you can ask, but they say if you get a service worth $1500 or more, about the price of the microillusions, they'll give you a $200 travel allowance towards your airfare. They're here in Maryland. Don't forget to ask them about pics of microillusions in caucasian hair.
This salon's stylist will come to you. They do the microillusions, they call them undetectable strand by strand. They offer other solutions as well that are more affordable. There's a contact number posted to discuss costs and arrangements. It may be much cheaper if you come out here to Maryland though. Ask them if they have installed microillusions in Caucasian hair before and ask for pics. If they say that they have and can't send you pics, I'll go over and look at their portfolio, but you really need to see them yourself.
Hair is Jilena, Manhattan,N.Y click Invisible Strands on the left. They have pics of the microillusions and pics w/Caucasian hair, you can see if they have close ups. Theirs start at $1500 INCLUDING the hair always double check.
