Someone else here will know better and can answer that Im sure. I am not very product savy. Thats why the Russian was better for me as it really doesnt seem to need anything. It barely needs brushing! I would guess though you can go even to the drugstore and get an anti humidity product. Something to smooth over the hair but you probably want to stay away from any heavy oil based products and only use it to middle-ends. Keep it off the bonds.
I had the same problem with GL, these are slipping out by the bond with a tiny few strands of my own hair but nothing crazy. Also I am finding this hair is getting frizzy. I know its way humid here, and I am trying not to wash it much, bit its frizzy looking and piecey looking. And of course my stylist is on vacation. What can I do?
Its a little soon. Do you mean the entire bond is slipping off or strands of the extension hair is just slipping out by itself?
I think with most all non glue methods its normal to lose a few and the longer you have them in, the more start slipping out. The glue kind like GL really dont come out that much at all. If they do, they normally take your natural hair out with them. Thats what happened to me and why im scared of them now.
I see. Thats understandable and best to go with someone that can keep an eye on your hair for the length of the wear. I think 99.9% of problems with extensions happen when people get them done and then never go back in to have them checked or they wear them too long.
I bet you could probably look into sew again later provided you stick with a hand tied very small weft and also finer textured hair to avoid a lot of weight on your natural hair. It might work out later especially if you continue to take good care of your bio hair and get it in shape. Also long breaks from coloring make all the differance. I know my hair was a mess at one point from using harsh permanent colors from the drug store but I would leave it on too long (thinking it would last longer that way no no) and also never use conditioner on it. I was very rough on my hair once upon a time lol.
Krisma, after reading all the post on here and looking at pics. wefts were the way to go for me. I went and saw 3 different stylist and 2 out of the three suggested not doing it. I first went to a girl who is african american who is a god send because she got my hair back in shape when I had all the damager from GL and she said no way to wefts. I went to another girl who said oh yeah we can do that. I went to one more girl who said the same thing as my first girl. They both stated that wefts are too heavy for my thin hair and could and probably would cause more damage. My hair is healthy now and they agreed to try and keep it that way. My original stylist suggested the short to long she does every kind of extension out there and said these would be best because she can monitor my hair every month so that made me feel alot better.
Sourgirl, is your natural hair very dry and brittle before the install? Do you color a lot? Im wondering why they said your hair could not take a sew in weft as my hair is very fragile but its more or less healthy, just thin. I was told that sew ins are actually better (provided they arent done too tight) for fine hair because the weight is more evenly distributed along the scalp. This might be complete bull as people also want to make a buck but i could see it being true now after the install. I did have some breakage from GL when I wore them and they were a supossid gentle bond for fine hair. Makes you wonder what is the more accurate info!
I would recomend a product called Bonacure Sealed Ends. Another lady on here suggested it in one of her posts and I bought it and man, its good stuff. Not cheap but worth it. You only need a dab and I put it on my dry ends of the extension hair and it makes them like silk. The feel of it is very non greasy so Im thinking you could probably even use a little more going further up if need be. Its by Shwarzkopf (spelling) but the product name itself is Bonacure Sealed Ends.

Pics will be on by tommorrow. I have the copper micr cylinder I guess you would call it, the silicone ones we tried a few and they kind of slipped a lttle. I go back in a few weeks to have her check them just to make sure they are ok for my hair.

Just got my short to long install yesterday, and I love it. It feels a little heavy probably because I'm not use to it. I was told not to condition so much just try to put it on the ends, but I am afraid my real hair underneath will end up getting dry. Any other suggestions I should use?
