Hmm. It could be coated also. Hopefully you get a couple months out of it and it didnt break the bank. If it does have a silicone coating, you do want to try to shampoo as little as possible, maybe once a week is good and a non sulfate.
I got the hair from the stylist who ordered it thru short 2 long. I brush before washing it. and I dont really lather up I kind of use a little shampoo and let it kind of run down the hair. It has been rainy and humid here the past few days so I am hoping that is why my hair is acting up a little.
Good! Witch hazel works like a charm on wefts or bonds I think. It just makes everything feel better. I cant see it really being a problem with links bcause its non oily and wont get gummy under there.
Why is the hair tangling so much? You just got it right? What kind of hair did you get? Here is another trick to using less conditioner but still getting it smooth. Before you do a full shampoo, dont just get in the shower with dry hair, this does something and causes the hair shaft to swell all of a sudden and creates more tangles. Instead take your brush or whatever and gently brush through getting the hair damp as you go. Ya know run the brush under the water. Make sure all the tangles are out and the hair is evenly damp and then get in the shower. Its a trick but it kind of gets the hair prepped to be shampooed. You will notice less tangles.
It seems to be a little less itchy now, I read an old post and I sprayed witch hazel on my scalp and it was a relief. I had my boyfriend and my som look at my scalp and they both said it looks fine. I do feel some pulling sometimes, over all I like the look. I just have to be alot more careful conditioning the hair, which has to be done when I wash it because it gets knotty when I dont.
I had some breakage back when I wore those to be fair and I rushed that install and should have let my hair recover more. It was a combination of problems. But overall I would say I’m very happy with the sew in wefts and wont go back to strand by strand unless some miracle product comes out and its totally invisible and you cant feel them at all. That’s a few years out in development I think. But when you look at how far hair extensions have come since they very first started i think back in the late 70s or something (strand by strand glue methods) its very amazing how good they are today.

The rings dont work for me either krisma. They always hurt when I slept. I can wear them around the top (up high) but anywhere where my head hits the pillow, they hurt and sleeping was not good. Couldnt get used to them. Other people have no problems with them at all.
Yeah. I had normal itchiness but i kept digging and i made it very sore. I liked the hair though so i just dealt with it and it kind of went away but I didnt continue that method because of it. They also pinched me a bit like on my neck when sleeping. Im just not a metal bond fan but some people love them. The wefts work better for me because its a strip and its soft and pliable and less for me to play with and get annoyed lol.

I think most people do go through an itchy phase, with most extension methods. As krisma said if its an allergic reaction it wont go away, and usually an allergic reaction is accompanied by more than just an annoying itchiness. If it doesnt get better in a few days then it may be something more than the normal 'itchies'. I like seabreeze the best for when this happens. I think Ive heard of tea tree oil and a few other things.
Thats the other thing I was going to mention. Almost any type of bond metal or not, when you very first get them installed, they are up close on the scalp so thats usually the time when they itch the most. If its an alergic reaction to the metal it wont go away and get worse and worse. If its just they are a little tight and close right now, that will pass.
What i would do to be on the safe side is call the stylist right now who did the install and let her know you might possibly be having issues. If she wants you to come in so she can take a look thats even better. That just kind of covers your butt in case she later says well you wore them so long with no problems and now they itch? If shes not a very nice person she could claim you just wanted them for a special event and are now trying to get a refund. Hopefully shes not that way but just to be on the safe side is all Im saying. Not to mention you dont want to hurt your scalp and cause hair loss.

I agree with Krisma - have someone check out the scalp area near the locs, even someone who dosen't know about allergies will be able to tell the difference between an allergic reaction and just irratation. If you wear jewlery thats not gold or silver and you don't get reactions to that, its unlikily that you would have a metal allergy on your scalp and not elsewhere (actually its just not possible for that to happen). I'm metal sensative, but can get away with wearing locs/links because they're coated in paint and after a day or so they aren't as close to my scalp.
Well with metal if it is truly an alergy you might want to consider getting them removed. I mean how bad are we talking? A little itch that goes away or is your scalp getting red and sensitive? Does the warm water from the shower make it sting? That would be signs of a metal alergy in which case I would get them out asap before it gets any worse. Your stylist should understand and give you a refund because its a medical condition.
Are the links you got metal? You might have an alergy to it. I had that problem with Hairlocs. If they arent metal then I dont know and might just be an adjustment period thing. With weaves you can tab the weft with witch hazel which works wonders. I do it just on hot days and it has a cooling effect. I dont know if you can try that with bonds or if it will effect them adversly.
Hi there, I had micro links installed last week, and I can not stop itching my scalp, does anyone have any idea whats causing it, and how I can treat it without ruining my extensions?
