QuoteReplyTopic: SoCap question! Posted: August 15 2007 at 9:58am
I guess I'll never find out about SoCap because the salon still hasn't returned my phone call. What could possibly be the problem with the delivery of the hair? Is it that difficult to get SoCap hair? I will not go to the second saon because $600 is just ridiculous for partial extensions!!!I think we have one more salon in the area that offers SoCap, I'll have to call for a consult. Is there another method of hair extensions I could do (besides GL) that would just fill in the sides. My sides are all different lengths from a bad hair cut. Thanks!

I liked SO Cap better over all. But GL's i liked how small the tips were. But for the price SOCap, no doubt.
Im sad for you too. amazing something can vary so much- ugh.
I was all about getting GL's , as i heard they were the extentions of the stars and like the mercedes of hair extentions. I found started to come out w/in 3weeks of putting them in. Not alot- but 4-5strands then more etc. But dont let my experience turn you off- it was my experience im sure people have had great GL experience and bad SOCap ones. I just liked SoCap- easier to maintain, etc
So Cap for me was less than $700's total - $100 per hour to put in and the rest of it was hair charge and supplies(brush, conditioning, styling it etc)
$1500 sounds like Great Length prices...

I think it must depend a lot on where a person lives, how many extensionists there are, etc.... In my area, So. Cap. seems to be just as pricey as Great Lengths. Even the stylists that I have spoken to that do both systems charge about the same. One person I spoke to that does GL charges $1,800-$2,000. Based on what my last So. Cap. install cost, the stylist made about $300/hour profit.
Never again will I pay this amount. I almost wish that my BF hadn't purchased it for me. I think it is just a ridiculous waste of money.

How much is the hair? Do you have to use hair from SoCap? I am sure you do because it already comes with the bonds, right? The second person who quoted me $600 just for the sides and a few in the back was just outrageous with her quote! She was definately trying to rip me off. What most people charge for a full head, she wanted to charge for partial extensions. I just have such a horrible haircut right now that I am trying to grow out!

Hi everyone! I was so upset yesterday but after talking to everyone here and my husband I feel better (thank you!) Anyways, I was decided to just go back to the first girl who gave me a price of less than $300. All I need is a few pieces on the sides to even out my hair until it grows 3", that's al I need. Once it evens out I think I will consider wefts for more length. I just don't think anyone here does wefts and I don't know who to ask. I think I will consider a traveling stylist. Would I have to pay for their traveling expenses? I am sure I woud but I thought I would ask? Thanks again, and I will llet you know how it goes! I just hope they don't cancel my appointment again once I make it. I guess I woulld feel better about the whole situation if the salon was upfront from the beginning instead of making up lies. I can put two and two together and figure it that they didn't have the hair the first time they cancelled my appointment. It would have been better if they just told me that instead of saying "the stylist had a family emergency".

My advice would be to keep looking and at least have a consultation with one of the Great Lengths stylists if that is all you can find. I am in an area also where So. Cap. is going for the same price as Great Lengths.
My second install with cut, color, hair, all totaled $1,550. I ONLY went for the second install because my boyfriend paid for most of it. This hair is not worth the price. If there is any way that you can fix your hair the DIY route, do it. I have found that most stylists that do So. Cap use 150 pieces for a full head. That is $350 wholesale for the hair.
They are making a killing on labor. I am not saying that some stylists are not worth it. As my experience has shown though, some are purely in it for the money. Seriously, I am tearing up even thinking of the hair nightmare I have had this summer.
For $1,500, you could almost any type of hair you want and install it yourself. Heck, you could have a couple years worth of hair!

I never knew about Craigslist! I just checked and no luck. I live in Syracuse New York (5 hours from NYC) upstate and there is not much of a demand or selection when it come to extensions. Obviously...the stylists can't even cut hair here! There are only three salons that offer socap and I went in for a consultation at two but I know that all three charge $1500 for a full head of long extensions. One salon quoted me $300 to blend the length on the sides of my head and the other $600 for the sides and some of the back. I just have chunks of hair missing from a horrible haircut. I want it blended to the same length that it is but I donlt want it so choppy that's why I decided on this type of extensions. I am not looking for lenght because eventually my hair will grow. It was down to the middle of my back before my nightmare began! I know that a few salons offer GL but I am not sure if I shoud go in for a consultation? I haved not paid for any hair yet and I am not sure what the stylists are charging but I can't imagine the hair costing that much. I don't need that much! Thanks again...Allyssa

Too much. That sounds more like Great Lengths prices. How much is this stylists charging you? Are you supposed to get a full head install from her?
Try Craigslist for extensionist in your area. Did you pay for you hair already? I'm sure you had to. When it comes in, pick it up and wait until you find someone else. I wouldn't trust them either. They may do good work but you have to decide if you trust them enough to do your hair and all of your maintenance.

well..no go! They callled me to reschedule my appointment again telling me that they had a hard time with the delivery of the hair. The first time they lied and said the stylist had a family emergency. I decided to wait or go else where. I wish they would have told me the truth the first time...I hate it when people lie. Now I question the integrity of the salon. I went to a different salon for a consultation today and it was more expensive. They want $600 for partial so cap (on the sides and some in the back) and $1500 for a full head. What do you guys think of these prices?

Thanks everyone for your response! The stylist cancelled my appointment due to a family emergency so I rescheduled for Saturday. I am starting out slow and just getting the extensions on the sides of my hair to even it out and make it look longer. It is really choppy from a bad hair cut. I will keep everyone posted!

ANY extentions go about 3-4months. Depending on how well you take care of them, how well the stylist did and how well she does your maintence(moves them around etc)- yuor stylist should be moving the extentions around and taking them out /in (not all of them) when the regrowth starts on your hair etc and when its noticeable that they are goign to show- if she doesnt and only checks for knots and stuff shes only in it for the money!
