you can have success with any extension method, it's just a personal preference. You can find a stylist to install and style or you can install and they'll style. There are many stylist who will work with you. They love hair plus they want that money.
Have you read extensions 101 yet? It's an overview of just about everything you need to know about them. http://talk.hairboutique.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=30346
I've worn tracks glued and sewn in. You can even buy them with rings and links already attached so no glue or sewing is even necessary. My personal preference right now is fusion. If you or you friends install them you can try severa techniquesl for a relatively cheap price until you figure out which suits you the best.

Yes that it what I am leaning towards The girl who did my links has been cooperating but when I mentioned pre gluing the bonds and silicone micro links she looked at me weird. I cant keep going back to her every few weeks to fix something Its bad enough I only have one day off a week and I dont want to spend every week there. I was leaning towards skin wefts the only problem is I have no idea how to cut hair and I dont know if a stylist would want to cut extensions unless she instaled them. I like a layered look. I was thinking tracks but 1 girl said yes and 2 others said no, they were all experienced but 2 out of three said no is reason for me to stay away.

You can get a LOOF one cheap on eBay. I just bought a second one for $10. Do you think that you may want to make your own or at least install them yourself?
Microchet uses nail glue too. It would seem that the products that we use in our hair and the shampooing and conditioning would eventually wash it away. Do you have to re-apply they nail glue often?
Happens with silicone-lined micro-rings too. Nail glue on the tip = near no shedding. I still have many of my tips still intact from my last install nearly a year ago. All I will need to do is heat and re-roll and they will be ready to go!

Would a silicone lined micro ring do that? I know that unlined ones and certain pliers have cutting edges that would cut the bond and hair causing damage.
It would still best to make them as secure as possible before installing them. I believe that most of the shedding comes from the pre-tip itself.
Some girls are trying the Tease hair and will be giving updates. It's supposed to have a better bonded tip.
Sometimes when stick hair is installed, the tip can crush between the closure of the attachment (a microring, for example). The glue used to make the tip can spread and the tip loses its integrity. While there may not be shedding after you make the tip, this can change once it's spread out under the ring. A drop of nail glue over the top (you can place it right under the tip, too, if preferred) hardens the tip and it can prevent the spreading from happening.
sourgirl, back to your question -
One of my recommends is http://extensions-plus.com/HairSoftWear.html. The EZ plugs have been mentioned a lot on this board and are frequently used by professionals. They shed little to none. They're available for us DIY, too.
ooooo Let's retract those claws ladies
I know some use the nail glue but I dont see how that's going to stop shedding. Does it go on the bottom of the bond where the the bond meet the hair?
It is an immense pain in the butt if you're in a rush, but have you ever considered making your own? I make mine with keratin. I make the size and amount I want for an extremely reasonable price. They NEVER shed because I make sure that all the hair has glue on it before I roll them and afterward I pull through them to assure that there aren't any shorters hair that I may have missed. You can also do that with other pre-tips if you don't want the hassle of making your own. I would reheat and re-roll them first though.
I have learned so much from all you guys and I want to say thank you. I am in the process of looking for new hair, one that doesnt shed as easily , lasts and keeps nice with texture and so on. Any one have any favorites?
