I usually use ALOT of remover, and gracefully dump it all over my attached wefts, be really careful, that stuff with make you sick if you leave it on too long!
I've only had problems with ripping out a few of my own strands with LG when I get impatient removing them. I get a piece of cotton wool, soak it in nail varnish remover or acetone if i have any and use that to losen the glue. It works really really well and only take a few minute or so to break down the glue so I can do my entire head starting from the bottom and gradually work my way up which i personally find easier then go back to the bottom and by that time the hair will slide right out. If you get the blobs of glue as mentioned you can either just be really careful seperating your hair from it strand by strand or put a little acetone on that piece of hair also. I've never had any breakage problems with LG.
I don't think the remover itself will. But you have to be really careful and not tug when you're trying to get the wefts out. I have had some problems with losing some hair-- but it's mostly from yanking out "glue globs" left over once the extensions are out.
