Sorry you have had a few bad experainces at salons. Was it not suggested that they would apply a semi colour on the bleached areas first ( this is called pre- pigmenting the hair) basically staining the hair before applying your natural colour on top of the semi colour.
I live in scotland, and I am a qualified hairdresser, I dont work in a salon, and I work for myself. Please dont knock hairdresser's that work in salons well not all. They work hard and are given alocated time slots for each client, which is usually not enough time, therefor job isnt done right, this is one of the reason I work for myself.
If you are going to do it at home yourself, PM me and I will tell you how to do this as I will need to know your natural hair colour etc.
I wonder if there is ANYONE here who could help, I'd really appreciate it.

of this year will mark one whole year of me not colouring my hair. At
the age of 19 I had my hair coloured dark red with a white top section.
I am a natural red head. For a few years I liked this radical look,
then in 2005 I decided to grow the dyed red out while still getting my
top section bleached.
In Oct 2006 I decided I was going to go
natural as I have had so many bad experiences at hairdressers. I don't
mean to offend anyone but when it comes to colour, I would say that
many hairdressers in Scotland just don't have a clue. I was sick of it and besides,
I've come to love my natural colour.
So here's the problem. I
have a lot of red roots now but of course still a lot of bleached hair.
I really need to take the bleached hair back to my natural colour
HOWEVER, this is no easy feat - you can't buy my colour in a bottle.
I've been told by various dummy hairdressers that they can colour over
the bleached, I've insisted on a strand test, and of course the colour
that comes out is nothing like my own. Is it possible to create any colour by mixing?
I'm writing to see if
they are any extremely high qaulity colour technitions in the UK, I'd
be prepared to travel to somewhere that will do this right. I live in
Edinburgh and I've been to the salons there, won't name any as the post
will prob be pulled, but they are all crap.
