i hold the weft up against my head, have a bottle of nail glue (yes, for fingernails) and cut the weft/ immediately put a drop or two of glue on the cut ends.....if you have machine sewn wefts (its a pretty wide weft) then it proably would do ok without the glue but it still helps to reinforce that cut end and i bring the needle to thread the clips on right through the weft. if you have handtied wefts (its usually a tiny, sometimes threadlike weft) you must glue the cut end or it will unravel. if i put clips on handtied i just bring the thread around the weft (because its too tiny to push a needle through anyway)

here's a site that has a  tutorial on making your own clip ins...(for me it really helped to have bought clip ins ready made first, and from then on i use those as a guide to know where to sew the clips on)....good luck!:

okay so i bought some extensions the other day,
and i'm going to use the clip in method.

in all the instruction guides of clipping them in, the hair extensions are in smaller pieces so you can layer them and whatever, but with the extensions i bought, the hair weft is just one very long piece.

this might be a stupid question,
but am i supposed to cut the weft into smaller pieces?

i just want to make sure that that's what you're supposed to do before i start cutting them and find out that's totally wrong.

the people at the store i bought it from picked out the clips for me,
but maybe the extensions i bought are not meant for being clip ins?

any help would be very appreciated.

this is (obviously) my first time with hair extensions.
