I`ve tried Clairol Natural Instincts and you would probably be ok if you applied it.

It was very gently although the colour probably won`t last all that long.

I have very dry hair and recently have been using Aveda Peat Moss shampoo and it is absolutely excellent. I`d recommend you try that for a while.

Francesca,
before you consider any more chemical treatment you really should get rid of your dead ends. Otherwise it will be damaged even more.
And by adding more colour onto already damaged hair you run a great chance of making things worse.
Before perming or dying hair needs to be in a good condition, because the chemicals in dyes dry the hair out even more.

Instead of dying it again you might want to invest into a good shampoo and conditioner for your hairtype. And into a visit at the hairdresser of your choice to get a trim and a deep conditioner treatment. With him/her you can also discuss any further colour moves - but first of all you hair needs to be healthy again!
In her Ask Karen column Karen has given some ideas on restoring to healthy hair.

Good luck and take care
There is not only black and white, there is also grey

I have really damaged hair(it`s dry/brittle). I tried to dye it about a week ago, but the roots absorded the semi-permanent hair, while the lower part (and the most damaged part) didn`t really absorb it at all. So now I have two toned hair. I want to dye it black to cover all the color. Do you think it would be a good idea to dye my hair with Natural Instincts even though my hair is dry and brittle? Even if I dye it black, would the end of my roots (the part that won`t absorb the color) even absorb the color at all? Or will it just make my hair more damaged then it already is? I want to know before I make this drastic decision. Thanks for your help.

Francesca
