Can I just add, to the first topic, if I may, lol.  A level 8, would have done the trick for you as hi lifts are just that lifting more of the pigment from your hair. Leaving a level 8 (light blonde) massaging into the hair for anything up to 5 mins, as you can see the colour tonning down instantly, this will tone down the yellow/white in your hair. The only thing as you said some of your hair was white/silver, the level 8 will only tone this to a very light blonde, but it will just look like different shades of blonde hi lights.

Well, thank you.  I have done a lot of research and experimenting on my own hair.

My hair turned gray too and I put a light golden brown color over the highlights to get them back to normal and they look much better.  It's either that or you have to put red over them and go darker, as the white has no pigment left.

thanks for the reply guys, i used the neutral because i knew that it didnt have ash or warm. my hair was very light to start with, now it just looks a bit too white/grey/a little hint of blue. this isnt the 1st time this happened to my hair. i like how light it is, except for the tint. i have better results with it being bright blonde, vs. dull blonde, i will wash it a couple times and see how the color looks in a week or two. i would tone it again, but i like to keep my hair pretty healthy, i was thinking of putting a beige color on it next time vs. gold, my hair is pale yellow/white/gold to start with.
i thought that i would tone it to make a softer natural blonde, but it didnt work. the instruction said to leave it in for 30 minutes, i left it in for about 20, guess i should have only left it in for 10

I think the problem is that High lift tints are formulated with more dye...meaning that the ash is going to be more ash.  If your hair is so light, you'd be better off toning it with a warmer toner, maybe.  Neutral implies that all the colors are in the dye, blue, yellow, red...  Strand test with a warmer toner to be sure.  It's hard to say without  a picture of the color.  Another thing is that your hair is probably very porous--meaning it will really grab the color.  Use a neutral protein filler next time and you might be a bit happier with the color.  Also, it sounds like you might be leaving the toner on too long.  Try some of the Born Blonde toners.  They are very temporary, wash out in a week.  It would be a good way to decide what base color you want to put in your hair.  Please remember that you can fade that color by using regular tide and washing your hair...that should make it fade pretty quickly.  If you want to add gold over it, go ahead, but I like to stop and let things fade for a bit--sometimes the color fades enough that you actually like it after a few days.  Good luck and I hope this helps.

last time this happened to me i just added another shade of blonde dye (with gold undertones) and it came out decent.. i wont lie.. it wasnt really good but it took the grey (i also called it violet) out a little. in other words, didnt fix it to perfection but it made my hair at least look normal.

hi guys,
so i have pale yellow to white blonde hair... today i decided to put a toner on it, or a highlift tint it to a natural light blonde...
i love the undertone, but the white that was already in my hair looks like it turned it grey or silver! im not thrilled with the result, i've never been quite happy everytime my hair gets toned, it always either turns, grey or blue... please help, last time the stylist turned my hair lavender and she did a french bleach... this time i dont know, light natural blonde hair color shouldnt have turned my hair greyish... the other last time i had a toner was a light natural blonde highlift 11, this time i used the same thing, diff brand and it turned out different....
please help!Dead
