oh and I saw this woman at the carrara markets selling extremely tired thrashed looking wefts of thin maybe 16" HH for around $40 for a weft that was about 10 inches wide! the quality was terrible - it looked awful before it was even put on someones head! to use it for a full install you would have needed about 10 wefts or more and it would have looked horrible all matted and tangled. I cant believe what the sellers over here try & rip people who dont know better, off with.
im also in australia - seems any suppliers here feel its ok to mark up hair by around 200% or even more - so I just get mine overseas. have seen shops selling non remy asian hair for prices like 299 a weft! ridiculous!
I'm not sure what it was... I will ask... I'm pretty sure it was some sort of a silver and it was mixed with something or other.. I took out the handsewn and replaced with the handtied I got from sherrie... its a tad yellow, but I'm not messing with it!!! I am using wella silver saver shampoo but it doesn't seem to do much... I'm in australia so I'm not sure what's available here... I don't want to wreck this lot!!! The new wefts feel fantastic, so it was obviously the toning. I feel so stupid now! :( thanks everyone for your help!!
I emailed you back; did you find out exactly what your hair dresser put on it? (What type of Wella toner did you use? Did you use a developer with it? If so, what volume? How long did you leave the product on the hair?).
I personally use 10-v violet mousse by Goldwell. Other people use violet/purple shampoos like 'Shimmering Lights' by Clairol. Sally's Beauty Supply also sells a generic brand of purple shampoo. Just make sure not too put too much on if you use the shampoos. I usually mix about 2/3 purple shampoo and 1/3 regular shampoo in a bottle and it gives me just the right amount. Too much will make your hair purple and you don't want that ;)
Yeah I did. We think it was the toner that ruined it. I'm so sad!! Does anyone recommend a good blonde toner WITHOUT anything that will damage my hair? I've heard a recommendation for the joico conditioner on here I think......?

there should never be peroxide in a toning shampoo, it has color in it, mild pigment to cancel out the gold or red.
the shampoo could be too harsh but not because of peroxide.
you could try a smoothing serum. like kms silk shine oil, put it on wet, blow dry it and right before u flat iron it, add a drop more and flat iron, should do the trick to bring back smoothness.
I spoke to the hairdresser about the wella professional toning shampoo I use. Apparently she thinks it has peroxide or some other agent in it to help the toning....it has always worked fine on my natural hair! would this have done this to my bohyme hair?? :'(

My bohyme is still ratty too. I feel your pain anjelinah! I just took it out after only one week of wear. I couldn't put up with it anymore. And, ebonyonline hasn't even replied to my emails.
its very unusual to get bad bohyme, but like ANY brand of hair it can and does happen to the best of them on occassion. yourhairhsop is a reputable supplier, so there is no issue there at all. I would try some good moisture products and/or some smoothing serum as sassy suggested
So I washed and conditioned yesterday with a different shampoo and cond. It hasn't really made much of a difference!! The pureology detangling spray makes it feel nice, but only for a short while...then it tangles at the end and goes a bit ratty.I've been brushing it a few time a day to keep it looking decent... is it possible to have gotten a bad batch? I got the bohyme from yourhairshop.com. I have some bohyme hand sewn from sherrie too but haven't tried that yet. I will keep trying though!!!

anjelina, it may not have anything at all to do with your water. But some people find that chlorine can dry out the hair. And some areas have much higher chlorine content in their water than other areas. In that case if you dont have a water softener in your house, a chlorine filter on your shower can be very benefical.
That's too bad, anj- usually bohyme silky straight does not have this problem. May I ask where you purchased this Bohyme? Definitely try a different shampoo & conditioner. One without sulphates, preferably. Some silicone-laden shine or smoothing serum may help as well. It is too bad you have had this problem with Bohyme, as it is normally very good, especially the silky straight.
Well since your say your hair is fine, I might suggest looking into the Russian hair. It is a very fine textured virgin hair. It comes in a lighter shade but since the hair is not processed at all, all colors are natural but you can then lighten if you want to. The only thing about this hair is it’s not cheap and is an investment for certain. However, it is very healthy hair from the start so it will last through many installs provided you aren’t putting a lot of heavy duty stress on it. It’s an option.
How do I find out if its my water doing bad?? I will try a different shampoo and conditioner and see how it goes! Sherrie I got the handtied bohyme today that I orderded from you the other week-its SO soft! Wish the installed hair was like this!! I will let you know how I go after washing!! Thanks so much!!

Try a different shampoo. Not every product works for everyone. Also what is your water like? Ive been wearing Bohyme for years and trust me, Ive tried blondes from many suppliers and quality wise unless your going to put out the bucks for a virgin blonde hair, your not going to find hair of much better quality in blonde.
Water can play a big factor in how your hair feels thats why I ask.
I am dissapointed with my bohyme too. Mine is soft and shiny though but it tangles easily.
I've been thinking about buying some d-lux while it's still on sale or rather while it's still in stock! I have d-lux clip ins and they were always very nice. I say go for the d-lux or wait for the tease. Plus, I have always found the customer service over at YHS to be great. They're always very friendly and willing to help you out.
