I use staight razors all of about everyother day for my facial hair and line. When you first start you are going to cut yourself...there's no avoiding it! But don't be scared; those surface slices barely hurt. Just learn from those mistakes to perfect your tecnique (because knowing how to do this yourself will help a lot). But as for tips:
*Don't do this with out dampening your face. You can use shaving gel but i found that a lil soapy water is just as good.
*BE CAREFUL. You have to slide the blade on your face at an angle in order to get a clean look but this increases the chances of getting cut. Just be extremely light handed with it cuz you'll be cut b4 you know it. The reason that most people get cut is because we under-estimate the razors. They're actually sharper than new butcher knife...just a lot lighter.
*Always use aftershave afterward...Its gonna BURN if you cut yourself tho. el oh el
*If you're new to this, shave with it a lil while b4 you step out of the house so that your small wounds will heal and people won't see you bleeding.
*I don't mean to scare you but its hard to stop the blood. Its kinda funny cuz you barely ever will feel urself cuttin urself but the blood just keeps flowing. Your best bet is to grab some aftershave, alcohol, or cologne and grit your teeth.
*I don't mean to scare you, i'm just warning you so u don't get freaked out when you make a lil mistake. But i definitely encourage everyone to learn to do this.
*It takes practice. I used to cut myself a lot during that first week but I've gotten so good that i can do the back of my head and behind my ears with perfection
*Goodluck, and keep me posted

chris is exactly right. The key is to TAKE YOUR TIME. I would recommend you just stick with liners, but if need be you can use your liners first then go over with the ravor. Good luck and like I always say, post some pics
