Is My Dream hair unREAL!!???

i was thinking of getting my hair layered but now im a little hesitant b/c i`ve been warned against it but i really want to do it....im not sure!

My hair is waist length, im thinking of having it trimmed two inch and then layered. Layers starting from my shoulder and getting longer in steps. I keep my hair tied in a ponytail a lot so what do you all think and why?

I dont want to keep it all one length cuz i dont like it like that but i dont want it short either, its the perfect length and its really straight which i like, i just want some style so then maybe i can keep it out more if its shorter from the front and stuff.

ALSO, waht are the types of layers there are???? Know of any websites on layers that would help please.???
