She may have gone darker to film the 3rd "Mummy" movie with Brendan Fraser in China; she's been cast in the role of Evie, after Rachel Wiesz decided not to do a second sequel---I imagine the producers would want her to have dark hair to fit the character. Its in post-production, I think, according to imdb.com, but Rachel Wiesz was always my favorite part of those movies, so I won't be seeing that one.

Another frustrating change for Maria. She is so pretty, yet all the way back to her days on ER, her hair has always seemed to be to be some version of stick-straight, a bit ratty, and not well cut or styled, regardless of length or color. I'll keep on keeping my fingers crossed for a better change...

But you know what, it works for her. She is an actress who is not caught up on self publicity and she looks very "girl that works three cubicles from you" look. She is not some "celebrity" that worries about what people think of her looks. Probably why I like her!

Maria Bello is back to blonde and her hair is shorter. Well, dirty blonde. Dirty blonde with roots. Ah, what the heck, I might as well say it: she looks like crap.
Erm, I realize that sounds argumentative. I didn't mean it that way. I'm just trying to understand how you qualify need. In other words and for example, you think she needs "x" because "y."

I like her as either the blonde, blonde or the darker brunette. She had a mousy brown stage in there that didn't do anything for me. I have to agree - a new style might be needed - just for a change up
needed.
needed?
For whose benefit? Hers... or yours?
I am merely curious about your choice of words. Because "just for a change up" leaves unclear the answer to "why."

Wow, she does look good as a brunette. Still wish she'd change up the style a bit, though - always seems to be some version of just hanging there a bit messy, or locked up tight in a bun.

Maria Bello (formerly of ER, Coyote Ugly and other quirky type movies, and a personal fave of mine) has gone considerably darker. I like her as a blonde, but the brunette looks great on her! See the pics on wireimage for a comparison:
