QuoteReplyTopic: Britney Spears Hair Extensions? Posted: September 17 2007 at 11:31am
So sad, the poor girl. I do wonder why Britney has chosen to do hair extensions instead of a wig, I wonder if that's just what she is accustomed to or if she knows her options and simply chooses hair extensions. It's hard to look at bad installations on any celebrity and wonder if they knew it was a bad job and how much they paid for it!
If it wasn't him who did her hair, then who was it? Do we know?
Apparently the 2nd hairdresser who was a female, was fired by Britney shortly after she hired her. The word is that Britney and one of her entourage helped her do her hair. Which is probably why it looked lumpy because I can't imagine a good stylist doing that type of extension work. I could be wrong.
As far as who the 2nd stylist was, I doubt we will ever find out. Would you want it to get out that you were fired...even by Britney? Well maybe it wouldn't be so bad but then again.

you know i saw the video of britney's performance and i definately agree it is not her best. i definately agree that she looked out of it etc. etc. but i dont agree with people saying that she cannot make a comeback. i still see in her what makes britney, well britney. it just seems like she is making a lot of the wrong choices in life and is actually ruining her own career when if she would just become more modest and take advice of others could make something really good of herself again. i definately think she has a lot of stuff in her life that has made it hard for her, but how long will you let those things keep you down. she needs to find pride in herself again and reach for her goals instead of going out partying all night because she is fearful it will not work out. and karen thank you for the whole input with the ken paves thing, i think it is totally cool that we can get insight information from this board! and plus i love how much you participate in it and help us out : ).

Britney Spears's Hairdresser Quit Before VMA Performance
WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 12, 2007 07:00 AM EDT

Before her now-notorious performance at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas, Britney Spears had a spat with celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves, PEOPLE reports in its latest issue, on newsstands Friday.
Weeks before the awards show, "Britney had requested his two female assistants [to do her extensions] since she prefers women around her," and was disappointed when Paves himself arrived, says a Spears source. The stylist soon left, taking his hair with him.
"He bailed," says the source. Says Paves's rep: "Ken made the professional decision not to do her hair for the VMAs."
That wasn't Spears's only problem – there was also a wardrobe flap. An MTV rep says costumers picked out a form-flattering corset for her to wear, but Spears chose a bikini instead.
For more on Britney's disastrous comeback performance, her early plans for the show, and her label's plans for her upcoming album, pick up this week's PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday.
I think ken paves is brilliant ( not a fan of the Jessica simpson line but that is besides the point ) The media did not really discredit him they just said she was upset because she hired another stylist. And the management hired him. They also said they had hair all set up for her and she declined them all ( apparantly some of it was the jessica simpson line ).
Karen, thanks for telling us what happened. That's really interesting. You see a celeb with a crappy hairstyle so you figure the person who did her hair screwed it up. Poor Britney...she's having hair issues. That's never fun.
Hi Malibu,
So much goes on behind the scenes that people never would dream is happening. I have interviewed a lot of celebrity hairdressers including Laurent D (4x) and he does Uma, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Debra Messing, Tea Leoni, David Duchoveny and a list of many more celebs, and he is also very respectful. Actually any celeb hairdresser that is popular is tight lipped and that is admirable.
Laurent told me recently that sometimes he has to work around the TV roles that the actress has and so he is limited to what he can do.
The celebrity hairdresser who does Jaime Pressley said that her hair is specifically designed to look trashy for My Name Is Earl and they want her to have lots of dark roots. So when her hairdresser does her hair for Red Carpets he is not allowed to dye her black roots. Sometimes he is dissed for not doing her roots. Actually Rita Hazan is her hair colorist and she is not allowed to touch the roots either.
So many details behind the scenes that we just don't know.
I also interviewed Beyonce and Mary J. Blige's hairdresser and she had lots of insights as well.
I try not to assume anything unless someone tells me. But it is hard because the media like People and InTouch spins everything until it is pure fiction.
That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)
It wasn't right for me to blame the hairstylist, when in fact her entire performance and outfit choice was weak. She is a an adult and makes her own choices.
Hi Honeychild, that was very nice of you to post this. When it comes to Britney it is hard to know if what is happening is her or her management people. Sometimes with celebrities they have so many "hanger on types" they let everyone else decide what is best for them and then chaos ensues.
Thanks for your post.

I actually talked to Ken about all this and of course most of the media has it all wrong.
Ken told me he went to the VMAs specifically to work with Britney's hair for her performance and designed her hair looks.
I have seen this man's extensions and they are perfection. I have also seen the lacefront wigs he has put on Jessica and others.
He actually did extensions for Britney several months before she shaved her head about 8 months ago but the media never knew this and didn't report it. So he was working with Britney before.
Ken would never say anything negative about his celebrity clients. In the 7+ years I have known him personally, he has always been very careful to never spill any dirt. I really respect that about him. I never ask anything about his celeb clients other than about their hair.
Anyway, he did say that he had spent a lot of time designing looks for Britney for the VMAs but when he got to Vegas and started to work with her there were "creative differences".
I know that Ken would never put his signature on any hairstyles for celebrities that he was not proud of. He is very aware that he is constantly judged on the hair he does. So I would suspect that Britney wanted something that Ken would not feel comfortable doing for her so he resigned from the project.
He did not say anything more other than there were "creative differences" and he made the decision to not proceed with working with Britney but he did say he specifically went to Vegas to work with Britney for the performance.
I can also say that celeb haircolorist Rita Hazan worked with Britney many months ago around the time Ken was doing extensions for her. Rita spent hours in her NYC salon taking Britney to a gorgeous blonde from an ugly mud brown.
Rita even put out a press report about her work on Britney. The very next week Britney, who looked fabulous back to blonde, flew to LA and dumped a box of drugstore brunette on her hair and Rita was horrified.
Can you imagine that?
But then Britney wiped her Kentucky Fried Chicken greasy fingers on a couture gown that was on loan to OK Magazine.
I feel bad for Ken because the media is publishing all kinds of lies about what really happened. But that's what happens when you are famous I guess.
