I think salt and pepper is very attractive in a man! Why don't you try to brighten up your silver and see if that makes you feel better. It may then mask your darker hair enough and really add zing.
I don't think you should start fooling around with bleach and all that. I knew a guy who did that, he was in his mid 40s, and he ended up with premature hair loss.
Thank you,Zaxwrit. I just feel so dull now with this salt and pepper, and I think all silver could be striking as I am so white-skinned even with black brows and lashes and brown eyes.
Okay, again, others here will know more. But since becoming hair obsessed (a few months), I've learned that blue and purple hair products lift to white and silver. Red and orange products create gold. So if you decide to do this yourself, go for bluing products.
If you are just trying to lighten your grey, try clairol shimmer lights shampoo and conditioner. For your darker hair, you'll need a lift and I think a professional is best for that. Afterward, use the shimmer lights, it's blue and in a purple bottle, and it will keep your hair nice and light with little to no yellow or gold.

Hi, everybody. I am male, nearly sixty, and still almost 50% dark haired. I have always had coloring like a vampire -- very white skin despite dark -- nearly brown-black with cool undertones -- hair and eyes. Because I have never gone in the sun and work in the skin care industry, my skin is good and on a good day most people think I am 45-48, rather than 59.
My blond partner of 30 years died nearly two years ago, and though I insisted he stay blond -- with the right colorist, you can look good blond till you die -- I am very impatient to go completely silver. I had clients in the past who had some kind of reverse color process where their dark hairs were stripped and colored to match their silver. Is this feasible for a short-ish haired man or would it be labor-intensive, expensive, or just plain stupid-looking? I really LOVE my silver and wish it would all get there. Any thoughts? Thank you.
