Hi. New here with unbalanced gray/white.....

I'm a 32 year old male who went gray/white very, very quickly but not evenly. It's in the typical spot on both sides, (above sideburns, up to temples and back to my ears). However, it is much more filled in on my right side or what I call my good side as I have never recieved so many positive comments from both men and women. I call it a highlight in every sense of the word until I turn to my left where there is as people say "not enough".

 

Also, on my left side it goes up much higher twoards the top of my head as a salt and pepper effect having dark brown hair when dry. I know a salon/hairstylist could even out this whole problem. I want to keep or should I say upkeep this loss of color or melanin but the cost of professionally doing it is $$$$$$. I know enough about store bought coloring kits to cover up the salt and pepper up top but all I have ever heard is how difficult or risky it is to try and add (or when I get older) completely fill the last remaining dark brown strands with gray or dare I attempt almost white hair?

 

I have read that if I go light enough with a product I bought as soon as I got my first comment suggesting I should even out since I won't cover it up. I'm told that it may work. It's called a platinum "raw" white out kit with 40 vol. activator and a conditioning toner. I assume the toner is platinum which I have read is necessary to do gray or white shades.

 

Sorry to be so long winded my first time meeting all of you.

 

Any ideas or product recomendations? As I said, I'd like to keep it a home project as my hair is short on the sides and I would do both to color match. Professionally, my friend knows a salon owner and aside from the $$, I'm uncomfortable calling up an appointment every few weeks to go gray/white with everyone watching it being done but far from uncomfortable just having it. I've never had so many complements about my hair in any way.

 

Hopefully my left side will catch up naturally and I can just touch up the brown easily with color, shampoo and conditioner.
