hey girls. i bought my hair today for my extensions. it is jet black to match my hair and it is 100% human hair. paid $113.00 with tax. they are tangle free and straight and beautifull. the brand is called hera or heru? not sure. i bought it at the salon. i have my appt next wednesday! but i forgot to ask you girls an important question, does it matter what type of hair you buy when you are applying the extensions with different methods or does it not make a difference?? thanks!
There are several different ways to do sew ins. Like on mine personally, what I have is a loose braid in which the wefts was sewn to that with thread but then she also wrapped rubber bands around the hair to secure it. It’s not always done that way though.
I have found I can easily go two months and probably more before I need a full take down and re sew. Everyone is different in that respect and to some degree, it will depend how fast your hair grows out. If you were too let it go too long in between take downs, you might have some problems with hanging wefts, matting etc so you wont really know till you get it done and can see how your own hair is doing with it. You also need to keep in mind that your natural hair will keep shedding and getting caught in the track so by a couple months or so, there is a fair amount of dead hair in there that needs to come out and your own hair shampooed very well before a re sew.
I simply shampoo my hair once a week with a moisturizing shampoo. I have done fine with that. I have found that the extension hair never seems to feel oily or dirty but my natural growing hair on top will get greasy. So what I do is a top hair shampoo in the sink about half way through the week using a clarifier that removes more oil. I blow dry that, fluff it up a bit and I’m good to go till my next full shampoo. Make sure that EVERY time you get your tracks wet, you dry them completely and never sleep on them wet as this will cause problems if you keep doing it.
When you take a shower, simply pile up your hair and wear a shower cap. You will find it’s really not a problem to keep the hair clean and smelling nice.
Hi- are the braid and sew in types where they braid a section of your hair and then sew in the track to the braid? if so, does it pull on the braid over time? how do you wash the hair with the braid? Just curious as I tend to wash my hair every 2-3 days and was curious about this method.
Any coloring services should be done BEFORE if you are planning on going with a sew-in.. Yes you can color the extensions, but again if you are coloring the extensions hair this should be done BEFORE you apply them.

If your hair is thick and healthy then most likely, you will have no problems with wearing hair extensions. The biggest issue with thicker hair can be blending them properly or so I have been told. My hair is fine.
Im going to leave it to the experts here as they have really good advice. I must tell you though that I do like my sew in. It has worked out nicely for me.

my hair is naturally very thick and i have never had any breakage in the past. i have dyed my hair many times though. also, would you recommend redying my hair black first before getting the extensions? can you dye extensions? & can you straighten/curl them as well?

Hi there. Pretty much everyone has already given you good advice.
As far as the healthiest method for your hair. That is pretty much up for debate as some people have great luck with one method and another person might try the same thing and have all kinds of damage. It’s kind of a "no shoe fits all sizes" kind of thing. How healthy would you say your natural hair is now? Have you been prone to breakage in the past? What texture is your natural hair? Would you say it’s thick, medium, or fine?
Answering some of these questions can help. As far as that photo of Ashlee Simpson, that is a cute look! I like it. I love her bangs there. You could probably fairly easily achieve that look with a sew in, tape in, or fusion bonds since it’s not a tremendous amount of hair. The wefts tend to give you more hair as the bonds are little pieces being added in. I think you could do either method, however, I am wearing a sew in now and I love it. It is much easier for me to deal with than all those little bonds but that is just a personal preference. Weaves are also less expensive.
No, they don’t hurt hurt and if they do, whoever installed it went a little too tight which can happen. They are snug when first applied like Malibu said but they tend to loosen up over the next couple days or so. You do want them snug to start with as your natural hair will keep growing and they will loosen on their own slowly but you don’t want them to start hanging or falling out. They should lie up against your scalp nicely. I have what is called a partial weave meaning I have three tracks sew in up under my natural hair and then the top of my hair is all free and just hangs over the extensions mixed in with them. It’s seamless and you really can’t tell unless you really dig into my scalp area lol.
I have worn both sew in wefts and individual bonds. Of the two, individuals are way more comfortable, but I like the smoother coverage I get with wefts. For me, wefts do get very itchy and at times I could hardly stand it.
As for brands, there are some good brands out there and also alot of bad brands too. For the most part, most people agree that Bohyme brand consistantly has good hair. You do not want cheap hair,since it will tangle on you almost immediately.

i am definitely leaning towards the sew in extensions. i would imagine after awhile the pain would go away and the itchyness would stop. i heard they get itchy as well? also, can you dye human hair extensions or straighten/put different products in to achieve certain effects? just out of curiosity.
also, is there a certain brand of human hair that i should look out for? the salon sells a bunch of different hair there so.

Hi Paisley I like the sew in method. It's tight the first few days and kind of annoying actually but after that I'm very happy with it. A lot of people here also use the tape method. It's a tape that's applied to the weft and you adhere it to you hair. If you feel more comfortable having someone do it for you then have the sew in done.
The individuals are good too but they don't give as much coverage and fullness as the weft method (sew ins or tape)
As for hair, there are loads of different types. If you just want to try extensions then I wouldn't invest too much on the hair the first time.

what are the bonded or fusion extensions like?
i've
been doing some research on the braid and sew extensions and i was
considering getting them but i heard they are very painful and i was
just wondering if that was true.
i went around to a few salons
to get prices quotes on extensions and the one place i went to told me
it is around $100 for the human hair and around $110 for the
application(for the braid and sew).
if you guys could help me out, that would be great.. thanks!
