QuoteReplyTopic: the growing out hair stage! Posted: May 16 2002 at 8:22am
i have done an olgivie home perm before and it turned out nice......but i am wondering with my hair as short as it is (to my chin) if i should maybe try one of the perms that gives waves.
the problem is my hair is thick and heavy so if i was and go it looks drab......and pressed against my head, i don`t know really what to try and make it have more volume and lift. any suggestions??
Hi there and welcome! Unless you are a truly gifted and experienced hair artist, I`d recommend not trying a home perm. I could be wrong, but that just sounds like a recipe for disaster! (Believe me, I`ve had my share of self-inflicted hair catastrophies :-) I know very little about perms but, like first-time coloring, it sounds like something you should probably let a good stylist do first.
I DO understand that awkward, growing-out stage, and some texture might really help your hair look like a finished product, not just hair that`s in the process of growing into a new style. Good luck with whatever you decide!!!!

I know it is hard for someone to give suggestions but I am in the stage of letting my hair grow out. I want to just wash and go (maybe put a little hair product in it)......so I was thinking about getting a perm done.......just one that will give some wave or big curls............also what about doing the perm at home?!?!?!?!?!?
anyone know what i am going through??? anyone with suggestions or comments????
thanks! by the way hello everyone....I am new to the board!!
