[quote name='Da_Devyne_1' date='Nov 25 2007, 02:45 PM' post='413320'] Alright,
as black males, we normally lack two important factors to hair
shine....WATER & OILS. I started thinking about this about a month
and a half ago. I've noticed that a lot of you guys only wash your hair
once or twice a week, which is fine, but I'm wondering...how often do
you rinse in between washes? I recommend rinsing your hair EVERYDAY.
Just use lukewarm water. It'll help keep the hair moist and best of all
clean. When you do wash, try to use a good shampoo. I mean, when they
say you pay for what you get, this really applys to shampoos! The more
expensive a shampoo is more than likely means the better the better the
cleansers are in it and the better concentrated it will be. This also
helps you save on the use of your outside the shower products because
your hair will be better suited so that you don't have to use as much
stuff.(I.E., CC, Pink Oil, OC, LJ, etc.)
As far as the
conditioners go, try to get a good acidic conditioner. A conditioner
that is known for acidifying is what REALLY helps with the SHINE of
your hair and what helps keep the tangles and naps and stuff out.
Research your conditioners. Turn the bottle around and look for these
ingredients especially....Myristic Acid, Palamitic Acid, Stearic Acid,
Citric. I know ya'll like this n**** crazy, but trust me on this one.
lol For those of you who use CC, make sure that you take advantage of
the Cholesterol that comes with it. If you don't use it, try using a
Hot Oil treatment every now then. I've tried this with both, but put
some in your hair, cover with a shower cap and go sit under a hair
dryer or use a hand hair dryer for like 10-15 minutes. If you feel homo
or stupid, just wrap your head with a towel instead of using a dryer!
lol But this really helps with the deep conditioning of your
hair...Just don't do this too much, we all know that heat isn't too
good for hair.
For the good part...the products to help with
shine...OILS! Its some good oils and there are some bad oils. The
bad...stay away from Petroleum and Mineral Oils. True, Petroleum can
help with shine, but it's only momentarily. Petro and Mineral Oils
aren't good for the hair because they can clog the pores very easily
and don't really absorb into your hair, just kinda sticks there. And
when they do this, they can very easily attract DUST and DIRT, which
causes your hair to look dull. I think this is the main problem for
most of the wavers on here.
Instead, use oils such as Carrot
Oil, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, and Pure 100% Indian Hemp.
Just about any ALL Natural oil is good for the hair. When you put your
oil of choice in, its best if you put it in when your hair is WET!! Why
you may ask? Well, when you put the oil in while your hair is wet, it
is easier and BEST to help hold the moisture in since it is already
present.
I hope that this can come as some help for ya'll.
For
me personally, I'm on some new ish. A deadly combo for the shine...
Africa's Best Organics Carrot Tea-Tree Oil and and Organic Root Olive
Oil Spray Sheen. If you jump on this bandwagon, try not to use too
much, my cause accidents from the blinding light that will be coming
off your head! lmao
