Hi Sublime, A toner is a highly pigmented tint with little or no lift. That means low peroxide volume, low ammonia. Although there are exceptions. I have used some toners that require a 20 volume but I dont recommend them. You could try Castings by L`Oreal in an ash shade.....I think its called Chardonnay. Or go to the Beauty store and look at the Wella line of demi perm colors. Lots of people like those shades. You want to use something that says semi or demi or specifically Toner on it. Finding the perfect toner shade is rather difficult but once you find it its all good.Do a strand test first and watch the timing, it might take five minutes or more....or less....just watch it carefully. Have you tried a purple shampoo yet? Shimmer Lights is pretty good at toning out slight brass.Violet cancels out the yellow(brass) and blue cancels out orange tones.
what exactly is a toner? i heard it`s used for neutralizing brassy tones. i want to know where i can buy it or at least the brand of a toner. thanks =)
