QuoteReplyTopic: know of a device to hold my hair in place tlike this? Posted: August 02 2002 at 12:16pm
I saw this in a hair magazine several years ago. They suggested using a thin width tape (probably not duct tape) to mark it. Then just cut under (or over I guess) the tape line. It sounded like a good idea because you can make all of your adjustments before you cut.
Hope that helps,

She`s a smart girl who`s had some bad experience (I plan to ask her what before she leaves) and has a friend (who I don`t know if she`s a stylist or not) cut her hair too. Anyway, I haven`t asked her yet (would have yesterday but she was busy) but if she were to cut my hair, I`m sure she`d do a good job. There are risks with going to a stylist too, and more serious ones than some people know. You (and Karen Shelton) seem to have found ones who appreciate your desire to have long hair. Let`s just say you are lucky.
One way or another, those places repel me and I`d rather keep going to the effort of cutting my hair. I may even invent a cheap gadget and patent it one day!

I hate the styilst experience. Period. Therefore I will either continue cutting my hair or let it grow long. At present, however, I plan on asking a roommate (I`m on a summer job in Quebec City) to trim it for me.

For goodness sakes Duke go to a stylist. I am sure you can easily find one that will only cost you about $12.00 or so. Why take the chance of messing up the look you want.
Duke I know what you`re trying to achieve but it`s very difficult to do correctly on yourself (personal experience talking here.) That`s especially true if your hair is thick. It`s hard because you have to either set up two mirrors or not see at all what you`re doing while cutting behind your back. I don`t recommend cutting it yourself--go to a stylist or have a trusted friend cut it straight across. Good luck! :-)

I mean something that will keep it down in the position when it`s combed flat and straight. I thought of using this object that on longer hair would help roll a bun, but it is jagged, not straight.
I cut my own hair which is not easy and it is very difficult - nay almost impossible - to cut hair straight in the back. Basically all I want to be able to do is to cut all my hair one length (about the level of my mouth.)To do this, I imagined I could get some sort of band that could clamp my hair all around, and I could cut it just below the band. Anyone know of devices (particularly those available in Canada) that I could use for this purpose? I mean, just like a thin hair band or something that could be pulled down and stay in place as I "bob" the hair below it.
