I don't think they would destroy your hair unless you rip out tha clips n jus put them in wrong or if you keep them in your hair, in the same spots for extremely long periods of time (like keepin tha clip-ins in your hair non-stop for months on end)

Thanks gatorfan!

I also tease and I have no problems what so ever with them hurting/pulling and if I don't tease, they'll slip.   Sometimes, I hate to take them out!LOL

I'll wear them everyday.  I don't mind the time spent in the morning putting them in.  My stylist recommended CHI Silk Infusion.  I'm gonna look into it.

You should have seen the old ladies at the shop.  All saying how lovely my hair was and the other stylist wispering to me that they don't know.LOL   I said go ahead and tell them.  They couldn't believe it when I showed them my hair underneath and the clips.  The one said my dark hair and blue eyes are just beautiful.   Smile  Just makes you feel good all over.Star

I love extensions.Big%20smile

Addy, your hair looks amazing!!  Love your clip ins.  I also wear the clip ins and love them.
BTW...I also found teasing my hair where the clip ins go does stop them from hurting and pulling.  This was suggested by metalgirl and she is absolutely correct - thanks metalgirl.

I love my clip ins.  It's the only way for me...  the other stuff is too expensive for me and I'm afraid I'd loose too much hair!  Something about gobs of hair does not sound good to me especially since I want to grow out past my butt (my original goal til some woman chopped my hair off  up to my shoulders in AugustAngry )

I'll have to root around and see if I can get a before shot but here are my new clip ins just finished and cut for the very first time today.  I love them.LOL  It is TEASE from yourhairshop.com.  I sewed them from machine wefts myself and added the clips.  It's cheaper to do it yourself... thanks to malibu for suggesting it.Smile

I am wearing about 7 oz perhaps.

All double wefted
1- 2 inch piece
1- 3 inch piece
1- 6 inch piece
1- 8 inch piece
1- 10 inch piece
and
2- 4 inch single wefted pieces.

I did color it.  I said I wouldn't but I did so we'll see if it holds up.  I used a moisture pac on it for 24 hours before and after the color and it's pretty soft.

I have worn my clips ins on and off for about 8 years or so.  For several of those years I have worn them on a daily basis.

I do need to tease my hair to get the clips something to clip into.  I just don't have enough natural hair for them to stay otherwise.  Also, the more I  make a teased base for the clip to go into, the clips don't hurt or pull at all.

Has this  damaged my hair over the years?  I think ANYTHING you put in your hair on a continual basis can damage your hair, but it's worth the trade off for me to have great hair.  I would say that my clip ins damage  my hair WAY less than when I do semi permanent  installs (strands, weaves, taped, etc)  I lose gobs of hair when I take down my hair after leaving semi permanent applications in for even just 1 month.

So, you should experiment with some clip ins.  It's a low cost low commitment way to get some hair on your head.

I wore clip in's everyday for years before I started wearing sew in weaves. Taking the hair on and off, and normal wearing never seems to bother my natural hair. I like to wear my hair past my shoulders. The problem came when my shoulder bag would get caught with the extensions over my shoulders. A couple of times my purse slid off my shoulder, along with my hair! It came out by the roots!
I'm too uncoordinated to wear clip in's full time.

I know, it's overwhelming!!
It depends on how much you want to spend. If it's just for special occasions
then you don't need to spend a whole lot. The Glamourhair extensions
are good if your hair is on the straight side. Their hair is pretty silky and shiny.

Yourhairshop sells them too and people seem happy.

These are pretty nice too because they're on a flat weft, aka seamless weft.

I have the Jon Renau (I wore the set to my wedding) and I LOVED IT!!!!
But that's not for every day.

Sallys is also selling clip ins now. You may want to check that first.

Thanks MalibuBig%20smile
I am thinking for special occasions. I saw some post before about glamour hair extensions and browsed their site. The prices seem reasonable. Any raves about their extensions?

Another fear of mine is getting hair extensions with animal mixed in them.  I really want human hair but there are so many kinds and choices. It gets confusing, lol.

I think you should be fine. Some people recommend teasing your own hair and then clipping them in. Teasing your hair is one of the most damaging things you can do. You're combing against the cuticle....I'm not sure why there are still some stylists suggesting teasing...When I wore clip ins I did not tease my hair where the clips went and they held fine.

To be honest, clip ins are not the most comfortable way to go. Are they for every day or just special occasions?

My own natural hair is a virgin hair. I never dyed my hair ever. I am wondering if I start using clip on extensions if I may possibly damage my hair.
Anyone? Thanks
