I hope I don't offend anyone with this posting .   I am only wanting to mention a few things that may not be apparent.

The individual that has the degree knows that they (or someone) paid a high price for that education.    Extensionists (if certified) also pay quite a lot for their education (up to 1800 dollars in some cases for just one method).   The equipment to apply and remove the extensions (tools, color rings, remover, cutting and blending tools, etc. . . are also personally purchased by the stylist.     A serious and careful stylist also spends a great deal of their own time (sometimes 12 hours a week)researching and perfecting their method(s) and searching for the best products for their clients.   Many individuals that are in the industry are passionate about what they do and spend many hours (on TOP of those spent working at the salon) working to provide better service for our clients.   Please be kind enough to take this into consideration.

Yes, there are some who do not subscribe to the above, but please be aware that there are some of us that do.

Thank you :)

I was in getting a hair weave yesterday and I saw just how long those women stand on their feet and do a weave.  It took a long time to do my hair and I can tell you - the women that do this for a living have every right to charge what they want.  I couldn't stand on my feet and do that for hours and hours.  I was very lucky to find someone to do it for the amount that she charged.  I gave her a $40.00 tip and I am thinking that wasn't even enough for what she went through with my hair.  I am going back to her to have her remove a couple out of my head - not because she did a bad job - but - because I am not use to them and I feel it will feel a lot better if I remove a couple to release some of the tightness.  Hats off to all of you ladies and gentlemen that do this for a living and I can now see why they cost so much.  It's a lot of work!!!

Hi, I'm sorry you came on here like a bull in a china shop. You can expect some consequences with that attitude.

I love helping people with their hair. I don't even profit! I just do it because I enjoy it.

I suppose starting a personal attack on someone in a forum is real spiritual, professional and adult thing to do. I suppose you are correct though. namaste doesn't pertain to you. how can any other spirit honor one such as yours...

So....you tip the $50, come on a forum and cry about it and now you're
saying this $50 tip is the amount to avoid being cheap...you seem to be talking out of both sides of your mouth. Cheap is coming on a hair forum and asking (in your first post) if anyone, a total inexperienced stranger will do hair extensions on your hair, fusion no less. You'll be retiring with no hair on yo head mamaLOL I guess you'll just keep mentioning to your peers that you have a masters degree.

If you do some more research you'll see there are DIY methods that you can do on your own... no need for those $50 tips that you seem to feel is so appropriate and with that mentality (where did you go to school?) you won't be sitting pretty during your retirement. Most likely Namaste will be the last thing you're thinking. By the way, do you know what Namaste actually means or are you again speaking out of both sides of your mouth?

Even though I am one of those "instant gratification" people lol, I research everything to the nth degree so I am pretty comfortable with my decision.   Due diligence is always required on my part.  That way if something goes bad, I can't blame anyone but myself.  LOL  My friends think I am crazy for taking all the time before I do something but it saves me time and heartbreak in the end.

Isn't it amazing what you can get when you educate yourself (self-reliance) and investigate accepting nothing less than what you know to be true, (self-worth)... not relying simply on what others think they know!

I guess I am not too far off ladies. I just received a call from a extension specialist in Bradenton Fl who will do the Great Lengths for 700.00 and she will put in my own strands for 3 dollars a piece. Just shows that knowledge and persistence pays off! More options arrive daily ladies!!!

Good Luck Df!  I am getting mine on Wednesday.  When I met one of the people I consulted with, I let her know that I had researched a lot already and she still spoke to me like I had no idea about anything and then when I asked about silicone lined microlinks she acted like she didn't hear me.  UGH!  LOL  When I met with Lisa, she had like a 20pg handout of her information, her systems, her experience etc and I was sold immediately.  LOL  I can't wait to post pics!

Thank you for the advice. I had a consulatation and the stylist was working on a client when I arrived at the salon so I was able to see his work. The stylist offered so much information to me before I went through all the questions I wanted to ask him he had already answered them. He seemed very confident in his work but also down to earth and genuine. I will be getting the fusion hair extensions on Thursday and I am really excited!!Tongue

Thank you kelliott001 for your help and support.  You helped me so much with my questions.  I really appreciate it.  I just can't wait until they loosen up.  I feel like I have a football helmet on.  LOL.  Thank you again, Deanna

Hello -
Can anyone that has had sew in extentions answer a question for me?  Are these things suppose to feel so tight.  I had them put in yesterday and they are driving me crazy.  It feels tight and it itches like crazy.  How much damage is this going to do to my hair and scalp?  I don't want to take them out but - I don't know if I am going to get use to this feeling and I am going on vacation to Florida this Thursday.  Can someone please help me decide to take them out or not before I go.
Thank you,
DeannaCry

I 'll be honest, I am an educated professional in marketing and I realize that these hair stylist are professionals but am not willing to pay them over 50 dollars an hour any longer, then they expect another 50 dollar tip. I have a masters degree and don't make 50 dollars an hour. The hair is not that expensive. Stylist are exploiting women's desires in vanity.

Kelliott, I understand your frustration but with that said you also need to do some more homework.

Hair is not at a set price. It really depends on the quality. You need to find the right hair for you. If you don't have time to do that (and it could take a LOT of trial and error and wasted money) and you need your extensionist to do it for you then yes, you'll have to pay extra for that service.

I also have a masters degree and I would think since you mentioned yours you would know that just because you have a masters degree does not mean you should be paid more than a hair stylist. You're starting to sound c*cky.

As for the fifty dollar tip....Where have you been getting your hair done? Madison Ave?
