Hi there Jason. Remember that the alcohols found in shampoos and (mainly) conditioners are NOT damaging. The SD Alcohol-40 in hairspray can dry out hair, but stearyl, cetyl and cetearyl alcohols are in almost EVERY conditioner on the free market and serve to thicken the product. They are also good emollients that add shine to dry hair. You want to look for a product without sodium lauryl sulfate, TEA-lauryl sulfate, ammonium lauryl/laureth sulfate or ammonium xylenosulfate. Contrary to what some websites will tell you, sodium LAURETH sulfate is considered a gentle surfactant cleanser. I like to use Nature`s Therapy Mega Moisture shampoo by Loreal and Phyto Systeme Hydra-Botanics, both of which I buy at Sally Beauty. Among the salon brands are some good choices; two my personal picks areRedken All Soft and Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture shampoos. I too have dry, somewhat frizzy hair and these are gentle. Just make sure to use a conditioner afterwards, since shampoos really can`t add much moisture as their primary intent is to clean. Hope this helps!

Hey all you chemicaly savvy people who actually look at the label and see what`s all in the shampoo before buying it, I have a question for you. What is a good shampoo that doesn`t have any damaging chemicals in it? Right now I use Physique and after reading around on this board it seems to contain alchohol and ammonium(i know i spelled that one wrong probably) which aren`t supposed to be good for your hair according to people here. My hair type is very short, very fine, and very frizzy if that would make any difference. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance!
