You may need to add more hair so your hair underneath doesn't show. Sally's hair is crap, so you'll be lucky if it lasts 8 weeks without poofing up and shedding like crazy.
If your hair is layered I agree with Mokipono. A full head sew in is better especially if your natural hair has a lot of layers. The more layers you have the harder it is to blend. You can get the individual tracks without a braid but, you will be installing alot of tracks. Good luck
There has been tons of info. regarding sew ins in this forum, if you do a search you should be able to get more information.
If your hair is chin length and you want 18" you'll need to wear 3 rows of hair. The top row being the shortest probably 6", and the next 2 rows 18". The wefts need to be taken out every 2 to 3 months, and reinstalled. I'm not familiar with satin strands, but hopefully you'll be able to reuse them for 6 to 8 months.
You'll be best off with a braid and sew install (cornrows with wefts sewn into them). You'll have more luck locating someone to help you. Most salons have someone on staff who can do this method, or can refer you. To disguise your hair under the wefts you'll need to start very low on the head with your bottom track.
I wear a sew in and have been now for the past year. They are great! Im not sure about cutting to blend but yes, as addy mentioned, probably a razor will do the trick. My hair was not layered and all one length when my wefts were sewn in, so though fine in texture, there was enough to easily cover and drape over my wefts so you could not see them at all. Now my natural hair is nearly to mid back! It would need a trim but i could easily clean it up and stop wearing the sew in. It helps your hair grow in my opinion.

Ok so I've bought the "Satin Strands" extensions w/o clips (I added the clips myself) to try that method first. So far not real happy Im wanting to have them sewn in so that I dont have to mess with trying to get them in myself everyday. So a few questions.... For starters I colored my hair and the extensions so that they would be a closer match (they were off just a bit) I love the color I have now. But my hair is about chin length and the ext. are 18' long. The prob is the hair isn't blending like I wanted. It almost looks choppy in places, like you can see where my hair under them is. So will sewn in work better you think?? And after they are sewn in Im wondering will they last 6mo possibly a year? I dont want to have to get them done every 2-3 months but if I have to I guess I will. ALSO, I saw where someone said they had theirs sewn but the w/o braids or cornrows.. How is that?? Like how are they sewn in? *confused* I'd like to know another method of sewing them in before I go to the stylist in a few days.. So if anyone can help answer my newb q's I'd appreciate it!
