Before getting a short hair cut you need to find the right hair style for your look.  How?
 
A good short hair cut has the following:
 
1.  Right proportions
2.  Balance
3.  Line
4.  Movement

Also....
5.  It's manageable
6.  The hair looks great in its natural texture even if not styled
7.  It grows out well
8.  It is flattering to your individual face shape
9.  It works with your body type and age

Dont give up, where there is a will there is a way. I have heard about rapid weight loss diets for pre-surgery reasons to lose a few pounds in a short period. You may want to check those out. Good luck.
