should i color then straiten or vice versa

i haven't permed my hair in like a year and a half.  so now when i wash it, it kinks up.  i have been straightening it from time to time but now i want to color.  so i was wonderin which should I do 1st.  i figured color it 1st then straiten since it kinks up when it gets wet, but i', not sure.  so any tips, ideas, do's & donts would be very much appreciated
