I'm lucky enough to have full support in my mother, my friends and even my son. And, oddly, even my new boss seems to love my almost long hair. (It's only bra strap length, so not really long.)

yes and no i guess. my grandma loves my hair long she has even said if i cut it she wouldn't talk to me. i cut my hair when i was 10 and my grandma was mad! she didn't talk to me just for the day my grandma is like that she got mad when i got my tattoos and piercings. that isn't why i don't cut my hair. i like my hair long. my mom is supportive. she has learned how to do my hair in pretty updo's. my grandma used to french braid my hair but since her mini stroke she can't do it as well i've taught my husband the combing hair from the bottom working up. also rinsing with cool water. like someone said, i'm sorry i don't remember the name. my husband doesn't get why i can't use a brush instead it's quicker he would say. or why some shampoos i won't use. etc. i'm slowly teaching him why. the rinsing with cool water i think made him really think i lost my mind. oh the undoing my hair when my hair up. i tell him not to pull it out to unwind it. that one he really doesn't get. i try to explain pulling it out can damage it. to unwind it. he thinks twisting it out would cause more damage. [sigh] oh well maybe one day..whoever reads my post might be thinking why is her mom, grandma and husband doing her hair? which is a good question since i'm a grown woman. i'm handicap and can't use my hands very well. the left hand i can't use at all. my family helps me out which i am very very lucky to have
My sister is the only family member that "supports" me growing my hair longer. She is in her 30's and her hair is to her butt. We are kinda having an unofficial contest to see who can grow there hair the longest.
Many of my co-workers in my office (only the females) support the length of my hair I've chosen and many said I should grow it longer.

My 5-year old neice is very supportive of my ever-longer hair. She will stroke it and comb it very carefully. Mind you, she is going through a "fairy princess" stage where everyone with long hair is A-OK in her books.

I have family that doesn't quiet understand why I take the extra steps to care for my hair. It can be as simple as 'why don't you just use a brush to untangle your wet hair?' Try to explain why and it's 'you're whacked' kind of an attitude. But I don't get discouraged. I am as careful as I can be, and use great products, and have fun with oils, etc. and even though I don't have the prettiest hair, I know without the extra care I give it, it would be in far worse shape.

Yes! Although I never talk to her about hair, my boss has beautiful long hair, not quite to her waist. She's always very professional looking and puts it up easily in lots of pretty ways.
I always intend to ask her about it, especially to demonstrate for me how she does some of her up-dos, but she's so busy, I haven't had an appropriate moment yet.
I think if it weren't for her, I might think long hair was a hinderance from succeeding in our industry. (Because it can make you look young.) But on the other hand, I'd probably look young no matter what I did.

Do you have any people in your "real" life that support your long hair endeavor? And/or do you have any detractors who try to discourage you from your pursuit of long hair?
